Anyone use SpeedBleeders on their SprintST?

Bought SpeedBleeders for my Triumph Sprint 1050 - anyone else installed these?

If so, any hassle? Benefits?

Thanks in advance.

Haven't used them on the bike but have used them on the car - makes one-man bleeding operation simple as you can pump the brake pedal without requiring second person for that operation while you open/close the conventional nipple.
On the bike however it's less critical for that main feature as one person can reach the nipple & the lever from the same position. But yes, should still simplify the operation.
Nothing special about installation or use - replace, attach a length of clear hose into a catch can, open nipple slightly then pump. Only thing to remember is to keep eye on the reservoir level. When fluid in the hose clear of bubbles you're done.
A couple of extra tips to ensure good bleeing success: if possible, remove the calipers from the forks (but leave hydraulics connected) and push pistons 'home'; then insert a block of wood between opposing pistons. This minimizes the cavity to ensure there is minimal oportunity for trapped air in the cylinder. Next, raise the caliper above the level of the master, keeping the nipples to the highest point in the chain. This additionally will ensure the best orientation for bleeding. This may be more difficult to accomplish on a faired bike with single main line plus up n over hose.
These steps are definitely overkill but will ensure excellent results particularly for those having trouble getting a perfect bleed.

Yup. I'm running them on my 2000ST. They do make things easier. Then again I have only needed to bleed my brakes once when I last changed my fluid and haven't had to do it again.

Seriously DEcosse, either you have too much time on your hands or your brakes need a serious looking at that bleeding better won't help. (Though reading some of the threads about brakes on this forum your advice may help some).

There's nothing wrong with my brakes - personally don't even see the need for the SpeedBleeders on a bike. Just offering some tips for those who seem to have problems which seem to be commonly reported on Sprints particularly in getting all the air out. Those tips will ensure the optimum results - take em or leave em.

...a fitting question...

Thanks for the views on the SpeedBleeders guys.

One other question about fitting them. Do I actually have to drain the fluid off before fitting them, or is it a case of removing old nipple and then inserting SpeedBleeder (presumably keeping the resovoir cap on will create a vacuum that will stop the fluid coming out?).

PaulM - yes, I got mine from the States. Good service and they also included the dust cap. Why do UK suppliers not do that bit?

Once again, thanks in advance.
