Thanks for the warm welcomes!

I've only had the bike for 4 days and 250 miles but I am already beginning to get the feeling that I invested my motorcycle dollar wisely.

Wait, riding a Harley and you didn't already have a backup vehicle? Just kidding!!
She was a good bike, only let me down once in 9 years with a broken coil wire coming back to the lake from St. Louis.
I still miss her but it's good to be back on two wheels.

If all goes well the replacement instrument cluster will arrive at the dealers today and I can ride up tomorrow and get my speedo Americanized then it's off to Columbia to watch my buddys band perform.

Y'all have a great weekend.

Mark,
Welcome to the Triumph ward where we are, and have been committed (in more ways than one.)

Bit of a change from a Harley to a sport bike style but I think you'll have plenty of fun (not all legal, I'm sure.)

As long as you have the three requirements necessary to be here you should have a great time. They are:
  1. A modicum of respect (both self and for others)
  2. An occasional story to share
  3. A friggin sense of humor (you will need it with this bunch.)
Oh and it doesn't hurt to have a Sprint either.

Enjoy and post pics.

Welcome....and I am glad to see yet another convert from the harley camp....(if I can only get my friend to switch over). I think you will find the sprint to be just much more fun...and a website here that in my opinion unmatched...for quality of people as well as help everyone provides.

Thanks denman13.
Yes it's more than a wee bit different than what I used to ride but I sold the superglide so long ago and so much with bikes has changed in that time that I am almost considering myself a virgin rider even though I've owned a bike of some sort from the time I was 14 until 1993.
I've got a new learning curve although the Sprint seems to make it easy.

1. Always
2. Not always interesting but I have a few.
3. A big one! But sometimes a bit twisted.

Here she is. I think it might look like a few others.

Man it's just not like it used to be. I am not in the right tax bracket to run with the harley crowd anymore.
Back when I got into HD in the early 80's not everybody and his brother owned one. I had the first EVO 80ci here at the lake for well over a year, started out with a blacked out Sportster XLX that was still running the shovel style motor (that thing was like riding a flat tracker on gravel roads, unbelievable, wish I still had it).
Everybody I knew was either riding a 74 shovel or a panhead and there were still people around who had knuckleheads. You certainly don't see many of those on the street anymore.

I've already found the Sprint to be more than fun, it's one of the most stable and reassuring rides I think I've ever been on. I am very surprised. I am still learning it's niggles and trying to figure out sounds that I am hearing but it's a lot more comfortable than I thought it would be.
I have sat at a desk working on a computer for the last 20 years and kind of figured I'd have some back trouble since I have it occasionally anyway (I am an old fart) but nada, other than a little neck squinch on the shoulders I feel great. The riding position is very easy to get used to.

Currently suffering from a throttle hand going numb after about 30 miles so if anyone has any advice on that I am all ears.
I started squeezing a stress ball and using a hand grip that I had lying around to try to build up some flaccid unused muscles.

You aren't just a'woofin' about this site either.
I've been doing a lot of reading, it is primo.

Thanks for having me!

4NO99-Welcome! This forum is an incredible place for info, stories and some twisted humor so you should fit in well. I have neck problems so one of the first things I did on mine was to install Gen-Mar bar risers. They helped alot! They raised the bar 1.25" and didn't require any cable or brake line mods, although there are some here who have had to do some of those mods.

It sounds like you might be putting too much weight on your wrists which is understandable, being used to a different riding position. Try squeezing the tank more with your knees. This will help take the weight off your wrists and help you in the twisties. If you ride a lot of slab then maybe a Throttlemeister cruise control will help. Or you can just wheelie for awhile until the numbness goes away.

Wot TornadoST said!

Hi 4N099,
i am glad to hear you are enjoying the site.

most of us are pretty looney.............some more than others.

But even though we have our differences of opinion on certain things we all Love our SPRINTS!

Tornado is probably right, especially if you have been off a bike for a bit you might be grippimg a bit tightly.

As stated if you don't get used to it there are other options, like risers etc. But I'd give it time first and follow TornadoST's good suggestion.

Most of my problems have been lower back over the years, hips and mid-upper back with the occasional stress-using a mouse all day right shoulder clinch. Been hunched over staring at a monitor for a lot of years.
My job can be stressful at times.
I started seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis for adjustments after my junk just gave up about 9 years ago and I was immobile and could only walk if I was bent over with my upper body about parallel with the ground from the hips up.
It was fun.

I'll tell you what's weird, I got my normal adjustment about two days after riding the Sprint and doc knew I was getting one so she came outside and checked my spine while I was sitting on it after I told her the basic position and she said I'd probably have some neck stuff going on which I've noticed if I ride with my head up, I cock it down a couple of degrees and I can still see fine and it relieves the pull. I still feel a little wank in my shoulders but I feel overall wank in the muscles all over my body from years of driving a car, legs, various arm muscles, it's subtle but it's there.
My back feels better after riding the bike for a week then it did before I bought it.
If you think about it, you are sitting in about the same position as an ergonomic chair. Bonus for the money spent!
