Hello everyone,
Just introducing myself. I am a long-time rider (33 yrs between street and dirt) and after 3 faithful years and 25000 miles on my 90 Yamaha FJ1200, recently bought (OK, I think I stole it) a Lucifer Orange 2000 Sprint RS from a Credit Union that had repossessed it. Unfortunately they didn't repossess the keys (am told the code will be here today). I cannot wait to hear the sound of the triple as everyone says it is soulful and I will love it.

I was hoping someone here could give me a comparison of what to expect in comparison to the FJ. I know this is a tall order but winter has set in and it looks like it will be a few months of sitting in the garage making engine noises before I get a chance to try it out.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Too cool Jim, I've got an orange 2000 RS as well and enjoy it very much.

I've never ridden an FJ so I really can't compare the two.
My RS has just under 15K miles on it and it runs better all the time. Neutral is much easier to get to now.

I've installed Genmar risers, a centerstand and the Triumph rear rack to make it more of a touring-sporter than a sport-tourer. I may splurge for a Sargeant seat when I can afford it.

Check with your local dealer, there is a recall for the plastic fuel fittings that should be done ASAP.

After the fuel fittings get fixed just ride it, stop for gas every couple hundred miles and keep on going

Thanks for the input, I can't wait to ride it.

The key has been a bit of a fiasco. I am about 90 miles from a dealer, with two about the same distance. The first said they would have to check and call back, never did. The second has been very helpful, but the factory will only supply keys, not codes. Should have Thursday, so I am taking it in for the recalls (3 in all) on Sat. The dealer in El Paso, Illinois has been good to deal with and earned my business.

I am not even sure of the mileage on it, but the previous owner bought it with 190 miles in Sept of 2003, and it is still on the OE Battle-ax's with approx 25% tread on the rear, so I would think around 5K miles.

Will update when I hear it run, wish me luck.

It's been a while since I rode an FJ. My memory tells me the FJ had more torque and vibration than the 955. The Triumph handles so much better.
Welcome to the sprint family.

Welcome to the mob Jim. I'm sure you'll enjoy every minute of it.
Personally, My ST is like my flying. Every minute not doing it is spent waiting to do it again.
