I run my road attacks at 36F 38R. I read that they want you to run high pressure, so I do. It did help a bit with the front end shake I was having.

Thanks guys ; I may bump up the pressure a little more than my usual 36/32.
Say ; 36/34 or 38/34. Should there be about 2 to 4 lbs. difference between rear and front? Fitting Race Tech fork springs this weekend so this may be all out the window or maybe same rules still apply. Can't wait to find out though

Since this thread is still active, I'll ask a question.

How do you suppose the experts come up with recommended tire pressures?

I read somewhere that tires were designed to accommodate a 10% rise in psi. This 10% psi rise was derived from a safety determinant to provide safe inflation pressures for normal riding.

If this is true, then you would start with a subjective pressure, ride a predetermined distance to warm the tires up, and expect a 10% pressure increase. If the pressure increase is more than 10%, you would increase the starting pressure. If the pressure increase is less than 10%, you would lower the starting pressure. Going through this process, you would determine the correct cold tire pressure for you and your bike.

This procedure is not meant for track riding, although it can be used as a starting point.

That's sort of what I tried to say in post way back in this thread. I think Although I'm not sure about the 10% 'safety' factor. It is just that pressure rising too much is a tell tale sign that the tires are heating up too fast. The alternative is also true. Too much pressure, you don't get a reasonable rise in pressure after a decnt ride. Sign that your cold pressures might be too high.

Thanks guys - was wondering what the head shake was all about when accelerating "firmly" through about 85 mph ish.

Front was at 30 psi, rear at 34 psi.

Now at 32 and 36 - it's just so annoying that the foot pump guage is rubbish and I have to guess how much to overinflate, put the guage back on and then use the let air out button !

They were fine 2 weeks ago and I was remiss in not checking them .

PS I know the guage is accurate as I have had it checked - digital wassitsname one with bar and psi and summit else wot I forget it measures in.

Good Point Well Made

Worth considering - I'll see what the change in tyre pressures bring - but of course I'll probably not grip the bars as much now that you have mentioned it, so I'll never know which one fixes it

BTW, unless you really enjoy the leg exercise, something like this http://www.motoessentials.com/ will be more convenient and small enough to carry it with you on trips. I have a proper mains powered small compressor in my garage but I carry that MotoPump thingy in my tank bang when on trips. You can order it ready with a powerlet plug to fit the socket in the Sprint. There's also the Slime http://www.motoessentials.com/invent...es/40001_b.jpg which is neater but I don't know if it's as heavy duty.
