2006 Sprint ST Glove Box Lock

So, it seems the lock on my glove box lid has popped out and is lying out on the road somewhere. Anyone have this happen to them and how do you replace? Covered under warranty? Cost. Cheap lock fixes?

From what I understand, if it popped out in normal use it should be covered under warranty or fairly cheap to fix if not. The bad news is that you can't get the key that matches the ignition so you will have to tote two keys at all times if you want to have access to it.

I don't know why Triumph doesn't have key codes so you can replace damaged parts with matching keys. That's what I've heard anyway.

If someone know otherwise please correct me if I'm wrong about this. (Kinda hope I am or that T has changed their process.)

Angry What a crap design

Argh, I was afraid of that. Who the hell designed that thing? I thought locks are supposed to be secure.

The last time I took mine off I noticed that the nut that holds the lock in place was very loose. Check your nuts boys!

My '07 Came with an extra lock cylinder in case I would install a top box.
Don't know if that is an option for you, but it's worth mentioning...

Mine was loose a while back as well. I only noticed as the slot had spun around, I never use it.

My dealer has a kit which has all of the various bits and pieces to rekey a tumbler. I don't know if all of the dealers have this. I have watched them rekey tumblers so that customers could continue to use one key as a courtesy.

I'm sure a locksmith can do it for a fee.

The bag kit for my 06 came with an extra cylinder...not that my cylinder would help you , but perhaps yours came with an extra cylinder also.
