removing rear tire

If I put my sprint st in gear...will that be enough to spin the rear nut off or will I have to apply the brake?

IMO it is easier on the bike to use the brake only.
Don't know what else to say because I always use an impact wrench.

I do both. Because it's awkward to apply brake and torque the nut at the same time having it in gear allows me to not reef on the brake as much. If its at the proper torque its not too bad. If it's over torqued you'll need a pipe extension.

I just tried getting that nut off...f### I cant get a good enough grip on the nut with my 46mm socket...it seems the socket wont go deep enough...looks like I need an impact gun to get it off..and I dont have one near by....looks like I will have to ride the bike to the dealer if I can make it while losing air pressure. Hope I can make it.

I also use the brake when removing the nut.
The big question comes up when you put it back on...after being torqued, will the nut end up in the same position so the clip easily slips thru the hole?
I haven't tried that yet, so I just screw it on 'till the (2nd) hole lines up.

Yes you can ricster. I'm not sure, because I haven't had too much of a problem (other than almost busting a vein in my head because the nut was over torqued)--but it's probably like lifting the bike onto the centerstand. Do it the wrong way, it's almost impossible, the right way is trouble free.

Hold the socket tight to the nut with your right. Press down on breaker bar with left. Bike in gear (I go for second). Right foot on brake. Left foot holding you up.

It's just like playing twister.

Torque it back on properly and the holes line up.

(leave it on sidestand till nut is loose, but roll it forward till you can't anymore)
