Plastic Fuel Tanks

I read a thread somewhere about converting plastic fuel tanks to metal. Is there a serious issue with the plastic ones??

No issue, just that oil prices are getting higher and guess what, plastic is made from oil so triumph might switch to a metal tank on the 2008 sprint st to save on material.

Just a rumor as of right now.

I asked about the metal tanks for the ST when I dropped my '03 off for service at the dealer. They confirmed that the '08 models will have this feature. No answer as to why the switch. But it will make it possible to use magnetic tankbags, always good to have extra mount options like that.

In case you don't have anything else constructive to do, watch a demonstration of Lenz's law on Youtube brought to you by the useless mind of OnD.

The dealer I asked mentioned steel as being the material for the fuel tanks. I hope so. My BMW has an aluminum tank and I've wished many times it was steel so I could use a magnetic tankbag.

Aluminum magnets can be found in the McMaster catalog just past the flux capacitor section.
