Some had difficulty grokking the O-Ring cruise control.

For those I have provided a short description with photos here:

Thank You. I was very curious about this.

I never would have imagined they were yellow...

Thanks

Yeah thanks jxs2151,
I've heard about these for ages but not seen them.
Are there any Aussies here who know where you can get these little suckers?

any hydraulics shop

You need not go tot a CAT dealer. The only thing different in the Cat-O-ring is that it is yellow, otherwise it is made of similar elastomer (synthetic rubber). The stickiness of the oring can be renewed with and std cleaner that gets the grease off it, so it sticks better.

Most any hydraulic shop will have a n Oring that will do. I use a size #321... as I explained somewhere and is now in the Wiki, the first number (3) means the number of 1/16ths of an inch the diameter of the cord is that makes up the oring and the second numbers (21) are the number of 1/16ths of an inch the inside diameter of the oring is. If All they have is a 320 it'll work.

The key to this working well is indeed shifting the grip to the insie before rolling the ring on, also any amount of brease/slime will drastically affect the grip. a Quick wipe with a wipe towel, thin sheets in a small packet one uses to clean up after eating messy food.

THIS ONLY WORKS ON 2004 AND PRIOR MODELS.. .

I don;t know the config of the 05+ models, but perhaps with some messing about someone can find out what size oring will work there, but it will need the gap between the grip and the end bar.

It definitly works on the '05 - '07 models - I've been using mine for about 6 months now. Not every time only on long freeway trips

Yeah DaveM,
I got mine from the local Bearing Shop, I just asked for a 321 'O' ring - brought two @ 0.90c each.
They work reasonable well but can be trickey get it into place at highway speeds - one hand on the 'GO' control and one hand trying to get the 'O' ring into position

Thanks guys, would never have thought of something so simple, guess the kiss principle is live and well.

Worth trying out for less than a dollar.
