Replacement keys

Is a visit to the Triumph dealer necessary to get a spare key, or are there any hardware stores or locksmiths can make a duplicate?

Second question: yes.
Freebie: Volvo key blank.

If using a Volvo key blank, you may have to file the top/highest ridge down. A couple of swipes with a file and all is good.

Any particular year(s)? All the new ones have transponders built in.

If I was doing it, I would take the T key to a locksmith and tell him the Volvo blank will work and let him select the right one.

I took my key in to the locksmith across the street from my office. I told him I'd heard some of the Volvo blanks would work. After trying several different blanks he pulled one off his board and said, "Why don't we try this one that says Triumph motorcycles?" I bought two.
