Ride a Thruxton, thinking of adding a Sprint ST

I'll never get rid of my Thruxton - she's my first bike and she's not going anywhere. She's just way too much fun to ride, customize and, to be honest, be seen on. That being said, now that I've been riding a little while I'd like to start 1. Touring 2. Track Days. The ST looks like a pretty good choice. I want to stay with Triumph and I know the ST isn't going to run with CBR1000's, R1's and GSXR1000s but it looks like the best choice from Hinckley - at least until they make the 180hp Daytona 1050 I'm dreaming of.

So from reading this forum it sounds like the ST is a great tourer and a good sport bike, but how is she on the track? All opinions welcome & thanks.

The Thruxtons are a great bike. SOme guys here do track days. The ones I know are 99-04 ST's though. Harry13 gets out and enjoys it so he says.

I love to do a track day but would be too worried about dropping it

Just do it.

Definitely keep your baby but the Sprint will be a fine addition to your two-wheeled entourage. Lots of Sprints going to the track (I'm heading my self in October.) And as far as not being able to run with the CBRs and GXRs it really depends more on the rider at some point. I ride with two CBR100RRs and hold my own quite respectably with them. I also ride with a GXR600 and he's a little faster in the corners but I smoke him in the straights. Plus, I'm a little stronger rider than he is; at least at the moment. I think he's practicing on his own and will probably give me a hard run for the money soon. My CBR buddies are just better riders than I am but they aren't leaving me in the dust by any stretch. And they've both commented on how impressed they are with the torque of the triple. I can be at 100 and hit it and it takes off like I just rode off the line. The Sprint is very stable at high speeds.

I love my Sprint. I have about 14,000 miles on it so far. I took it to the track for the first time last week and had a blast. New Hampshire International Speedway is a very technical track with 1 good straightway and lots of tight corners. The bike did great, was able to go around most of the track in 3rd gear; torque is AWESOME!
Here is a vid of my adventures:

TrumpetCrazy,
Cool video! Makes me want to sign up. Did you have to do tons of safety things to your bike before you could get it on the track. Like tap bulb, safety wire nuts, replace coolant with water? That type of stuff and if so was it a big pain? And how much did it cost?

Get a Sprint for your road bike and turn the Thruxton into a track bike. Don't they have a special racing series for the Thruxton?

Not really. I took off the taillight piece, took off the mirrors, unplugged the headlights, disconnected the horn and took off the passenger pegs. I also put a hose clamp around the oil filter and safety wired it. That was it. Didn't take to long to put it all back either.
