I feel cheated, I can't live without a Sprint.

Some of you know that I owned a '05 Caspian Blue Sprint ST and that it was destroyed in a bad freeway accident almost a year ago, August of 2006.

I have owned a Daytona 675 ( also In a freeway accident, not-at-fault ) and I currently own a little 250CC Chopper thats a fun little project bike.

I only owned my sprint for SEVEN MONTHS before some jerk-off unlicensed / uninsured driver cut me off and destroyed half my soul, yes my sprint is half my soul because I worked for months and months incredibly hard to earn enough for a down payment, I even sold my '85 Toyota Supra project car to get the Sprint.

Anyways, a year later and I'm missing my Sprint, the comfort, that beautiful Caspian blue, those rides up the local mountains....I feel cheated, cheated out of something I put the better part of a year working hard to get into.

Now I have a new job making twice as much and a new car ( '07 Scion TC ) for daily work travel. I feel its time for another Sprint ST, I plan to save about $400 a month and put it into a new savings account and not even think about it. From August to February is 8 months, 8 times 4 = 32 which is $3,200. I'll sell my chopper for 3500-4000 and add that to my saved money. Totaling $7,200 for a hefty down payment on a 2006 - 2008 Sprint ST.

For those that own the '05+ Sprint ST I'm sure you can sympathize for my loss and how much you enjoy owning it.

Here's praying for patience and a dedication to saving that full $400 a month!

What was rightfully mine...Taken away by some inattentive moron.

I would figure your insurance picked up your loss on your 05. Wouldn't that have been good for the remaining amount as a down payment? I do feel your loss as I do enjoy riding more than I thought I would have before signing up to get a bike this past december. It took me 5 months to decide on what bike to get...only to be threatened at work that someone was being let go...so I put it off until december as they never let anyone go in the next few months...but of course as soon as I bought the bike..I was terminated....it always seems to go that way. But I never regreted buying it.

Insurance paid for my hospital stay ( 5 hrs ) and the rest of the bikes worth, and nothing more in my pocket, I basically broke even in the end. Thinking back about it I did get like maaaybe 650 in my pocket.

Feel your pain

TRH, that's a hard thing to not only lose your bike but also rebuilding your confidence after a bad off. But happy that you are here to write about it.

I don't know what the situation was when you bought your Sprint but when I got mine earlier this year, Triumph USA financing (GE Moneybank) was offering loans with terms something like up to 7 years. It's a little higher interest but the payments would be very cheap if you put something like 3000 down. Payments would be something like $175 a month. Then when your income increases you can just pay the loan off sooner (no prepayment penalties )

Normally I'm a fairly conservative person when it comes to borrowing (pay cash as often as possible and avoid debt.) But if you're missing 1/2 your soul, I'd balance out your needs with your financial responsibilities. Being happy is important too.

Get a deal on a used Sprint...

Just did a quick search on cycletrader and there's a 2006 Tornado Red Sprint at a Yamaha dealer in Costa Mesa. They're asking only $6400! Looks clean. Put $4000 down and make small payments on the rest.

Really, go down there and do it...

Talking

LOL sorry I won't own a TOMATO red sprint... its Caspian Blue or maybe a black one, the black is really sexah.

But my heart lies with the caspian blue, that blue in the sunlight looks just amazing, I could park it and just stand there staring for a few minutes before looking away.

You should go get that red one, but I hear the weight of the red paint actually slows the bike down, its proven the red is slowest one out of the other colors

Caspian BLUE is scientifically proven to be the fastest color sprint.

You are correct. The Caspian Blue is the fastest and bestest color.

Sorry...

Black is the fastest. Ever wonder why the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird is the fastest jet in the world. Because it's Black...Duh.

Besides, could you see any other color bike doing this??

Thumbs up

I would have to say the red is definitely faster than all the colors.

I think you should stick to your plan and save as much as possible for an 08'. Good luck on saving up and hope to see you meet your goal.

BTW...Ducati made special edition Matrix models.....they were sweet. The one above looks green to me.
