Did it to some vehicle rotors awhile back...it does work if done correctly on automotive applications...can't see why it cant be done to bike rotors. There was a company called "cool rotors" not sure if they are still around.

So far, it has been working for Walt Disney's head.:
Sorry, I've resisted this since yesterday and just couldn't pass it up.:

Frozen

I put "Frozen Rotors" on my wife's car. They've been on for about 20K+ miles and seem to be wearing very well (definitely better than OEM). I have no idea what good/bad they would do on a bike though. I guess I would be tentative to do it until I've heard some feedback from other riders...

They used to tout this procedure in rifle barrel applications but I haven't seen anyone bothering with it for quite some time. It was supposed to put the planets in proper alignment or something like that. Actually to remove the stress involved in the machining of the materials.

But, with the proper hi-grade materials, machining techniques and heat treating and tempering this happens anyway.

The prime benefit I think for "wavy rotors" would be in a racing application to reduce unsprung weight where every nano-ounce counts for spinup. Also, teams change brakes all the time and cost isn't an issue.

Other than the cool factor, I see very little rewards for using wavy rotors in a street application vs. cost.

Now, to be totally cool, look into ceramic applications.

Oldndumb is right. Walt Disney's head now has over 100,000 miles.

Maybe I should try that on my head ! I've been a little too hot-headed lately.

Its a chemical treatment so it should not really cost that much. I agree about wave rotors trying to reduce unsprung weight...but if you want to drop that kind of money on that...I would look at wheels from BST in carbon fiber...now that is a performance modification worth doing. Lightening the wheels on a bike would be the biggest performance gain you could make. I was told by an ex. bike racer that this is better than motor and exhaust work.
