New (to me) 955i ST (2001)
Hey all, I'm new here. Been scoping out the Triumphs for about 8 months. I happened upon a 2001 955i with only 8600 miles on it. The guy who owned it even threw in a number of extra parts. It took me hours to find a scratch....a tiny one on the right side of the tank. It is beautiful. First ride, 160+ miles home from near Atlanta,Ga. Wow...what a bike. I'll post pictures soon. I was right to wait, 'til I found a Sprint at a decent price. It was an amazing ride home. I have never ridden anything that was so stable at interstate speed. It is red so it is too fast for me, but I am attempting to cope. Yeeha.

You have many many good times ahead my friend. I had an '01 and it was a terrific bike (mine was BRG). Welcome aboard!

I'm really hoping so. I just go back into riding after years away. I bought a 2007 250 Ninja to get my feet wet. I enjoyed riding again, so I began the search for "the" bike. The Sprint 955i was on the short list. I just happened to be in Atlanta, and stopped in to a local Ducati dealership...one of the guys working there had this Sprint on the showroom floor under consignment. They worked the paperwork to make it look like I bought it from the dealership, even reduced the price so the total would come in under the figure I wanted. He hated to see it go, but he needed the cash. I am so excited. Tomorrow my first trip to the Triumph dealership here....as a Triumph rider. Can't wait. Just hope my reception is better than the last time I went in just to look around.

Good stuff. Great to hear your excitement - it's the start of a beautiful relationship... OK enough of that.
Two questions:
1) What were the other bikes on your short list? I'm sure others will have already recalled what they considered (and will be pretty close to yours).
2) Have you given it a decent twist of the wrist yet, where you grin like an idiot?

I also have a red '01 and I know you'll enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine! I've had mine since new in late '03. I found it buried in a back corner of a Delaware dealership. When the '02s came out the '01s and previous became the black sheeps....but I love mine! If you have any questions this group can sure answer 'em! Enjoy!

Welcome! I have an "arrest me" red '01 as well. I bought mine a year ago with 1487 miles on it and have loved every mile on it. Taking it in for the 12K maintenance this week.
Only problem I've had with mine has been the cheap plastic quick disconnect fuel fittings, but hopefully if the previous owner works at a bike shop, yours has been looked after. Just keep an eye out for that, especially if you smell gas. Finding gas dripping off the alternator is not a good feeling... otherwise, bullet proof bike.

Bikes on short list...
I really thought that a Buell XB9r Firebolt would be the ticket....until i rode one. I don't like wheelies.....I don't like having my elbows hyperextended every time I twist the throttle. I rode it...hated it.
I wanted to like the Sportster too....like every red-blooded American Boy....but it felt like I was trying to turn a boat. I also didn't care for the crowd I would have been a part of. I hope they enjoy themselves. But the sportsters I rode weren't as nice as my 250 Ninja...to me. I don't like the feet forward position, at all, so my Harley choices were very limited. Fit and finish were very nice though. Just didn't suit me.
I also had my eye on a Ducati 695 Monster. Whooo Baby. But, I couldn't get past the whole reliability issue. Plus, no one let me ride one. The cost was OK, but I would have wanted the mini-fairing, raise the bars, etc. and the cost just skyrocketed.
Other than those, the Kawasaki 650 Ninja was on the list too. I rode it. I liked it. Nothing to fault it with, save the fact that it is only in its second model year.
But, the one that caught my eye always, was the Triumph. I am just giggly like a school girl.
Even riding very slowly is fun.....
Must ride more....where to go.....
