Tuneboy & Changing air/fuel setting for stock tune

I have a 03 sprint and Tuneboy. On there site there is a tutorial section that talks about change the stock tune air/fuel setting. Claiming that the bikes come lean from the factory for emissons and should be richened up. They give an example of what the a/f setting should be. Has anyone done this and running a stock pipe? Here is the link http://www.tuneboy.com.au/Tutorials/...Tutorial2.html

Thanks

The claim that the bikes come lean from the factory is correct from the standpoint of best engine power, they certainly arent lean enough to cause engine damage. That said, there are many here and on the T595.net site which have purchased the tuneboy and modified their FI tune to better suit their riding styles or intake/exhaust setup. I've fitted a Kerker universal slipon and fabricated a custom mid pipe for my '01. I assume this closer resembles the flow charistics of the Triumph off road can hence I run a modified tune done by Wayne McDonald which was dyno tuned. Made a great increase in power across the board, nice tune. Check out the EFI section of T595.net site, they also have a knowledge base where you can download some modified tunes, if not for loading, just examine them to see how they were modified. I know I didnt answer your question directly sorry for that. Good luck.

Changing the tune (map) is akin to fiddling with timing, jets, and needles on the normaly aspirated engines. Factory tunes (cars and bikes) are a compromise arrived at by committee to comply with federal regulations and engine warranty protection.
There are a lot more ponies in most engines to be had. But, you can't beat the laws of physics. So always keep good records, and make changes one at a time. And like the elusive 'free lunch', you don't get something for nothing. A performance gain in one area usually comes with a loss in another. It is all about compromises and which one best suits your purpose.
The only factual feedback from people who alter their tunes are the ones who have comparison dyno results. Comparing results from one poster to another can be misleading due to all of the variables. Before and after dynos from the same bike are much more relevant.
