Attention '06 early Sprint owners (bars)
I loooove my 07 Sprint but I ride more sport style than touring. I've started to want the lower bars that came on the 06s. My dealer gave me part# T2040403 and T2040405 for L&R 06 bars up through VIN281465. However they didn't have specs and height on the bars. I want to make sure they're the right ones before I order them. Can anyone please tell me: - The dimensions on the 06 bars (height mostly)
- If the part numbers sound right
- If you're bike is at VIN281465 or lower
They're $200 and a week's shipping so I'd like to avoid having to send the wrong ones back.
Thanks,
Dennis

I've never heard of any differences between the '05 and '06 (regardless of VIN), so as long as the part number is relavent to those model years, you should be good.
Now if you're just curious on the difference in height between the new and old, then it looks like my '06 (manufactured in 07/05), is about 85mm from the top of the triple clamp and the top of the base of the bar.
Not sure how to measure the actual rise of the bar-ends, I'm afraid.

Bar set up
I am uncertain of the heights etc you guys are discussing.
But I do know that the bars all bolt on the same as they did with the 955 models as I sold Tankman my bar risers for y 2004 955i Sprint two years ago and they bolted straight onto his 1050 Sprint.
cheers,

I THINK the question was on whether or not the pre-'07 bars were lower than the '07, and by how much. At least that how I responded.
You confirmed that the older bars were in fact compatible, as far as bolting on.

This is only and observation mind you as I don't own either of the bikes in question, but seeing the '06 and '07 in my dealers showroom the '07's look to be much more relaxed. (given the fact that the '05 and '06 were also more relaxed from the 955 models.) To my eye I would venture to say the height difference to be near 1.25" - 1.5". The change in the bar height was easily apparent, to me anyway. It was the first thing I noticed when I saw the '07. I would not be surprised if the fairing cutout is not also different from the '06. The seat is also changed quite a bit from the '06.

I'm happy with the lower bars on my '06, but I know many people are "upgrading" to the higher bars. Have you tried finding someone with the lower bars that'd be willing to swap with the higher bars on your '07?

05-06 Bar Measurement
Okay, I just got back from riding and thought someone would have surely put a scale (ruler) next to an 05/06 bar by now. Guess I'll have to do it.
Doing it this way, I get 4.60in.
BTW, I don't work for free. You owe me some popcorn.

Thanks for all the clues
Thanks OnD for the clear pics. Actually Jeremy sent me some measured pics via PM too. I guess I need to find someone in my area with an 06 and see if it makes enough of a difference to warrant the work and $.
Re a potential swap, I might be interested in that but would prefer to hang on to all original parts should I ever sell the bike.
Thanks for the help guys. Much appreciated.
Dennis
