I am so unlucky

Hello folks.

Great bunch of people here and lots of info. Been lurking in this forum for some time now and finally decided to post out of sheer frustration….
Been riding various bikes for 15 years and after a lot of test-driving and consideration decided to buy a 07 Sprint after trying it out last year.
Well I scrape left and right an manage to get the money together to purchase a beautiful Black ABS ST. I put down a deposit at the dealer with his promise that I will have my bike within a month and guess what…..
After 2-3 days the dealer calls me and says there are NO 07 ABS STs available till the end of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Something to do with Triumph changing the gas tank from plastic to metallic.
Jesus Christ!!! I have been waiting so long for a new ride and now I have to wait 6 more months.
How thick can this be? I want to buy and I can't....
Just my luck I guess.
Sorry to whine like this but I am sure you are the only bunch of people that can understand my frustration.

Anyway it might take some time but I will join the ranks eventually.

I hear you

Keep looking. You will be able to find a new Left Over or better yet a used one and save a few G's!

How about you buy one from a UK dealer and I'll see if I can get a pass out from the wife to ride it over for you - just think you won't have to do that running in thing :-)

First off welcome Wintermute - you are right this is a great site.

Second - Don't think Jesus will intervene unless you ask him more nicely - In the correct manner though I am thoroughly convinced he does take motorcyclist prayers

Third - you are so right - I can feel your pain - that black beauty has been calling me for several months now, but I am just plain happy with my current ride can't find a reason to give her up. My advice - get an X-box 360 and the MotoGP 07 game to bide your time - I think the black is worth the wait - It just looks incredible

I fell in love with the black one. And I am told that it will be discontinued for 08.

I just hope manufacturing will begin again before the end of the year so I can grab a black one.

I hear they will be offering 2 new colors. Graphite and a darker blue one.

Still want the black though...

Thumbs up Ah-HAH!

"Wintermute" ... I knew the name was familiar but I couldn't place it without some deep remembering.

Wintermute was the "burning bush" AI in Neuromancer... ("One burning bush is just like another," I recall.) I read that book twice in high school and I will never forget Wintermute and its strategy. Excellent.

Anyways, I would offer this: 2007's are absolutely fantastic, but a 2005+ Sprint is a 2005+ Sprint. You won't be proportionately disappointed by buying a used or older Sprint versus waiting half of a year for one. The advantages / differences are literally negligible, in your situation, in my opinion.

Alex

EDIT: ****, it's all coming back... Armitage just sits there and stares at the walls during his off-time, and at that point, Wintermute is forced to communicate with Case. That novel was way ahead of its time, to say the least.

You can try the same in Poland. IFAIK there's no problem with buying ST on-line and Polish homologation should be legal in Greece - we're driving on the right and Poland is EU country now, so you should pay no extra money but transport - You can make a trip from Poland to Greece or a small tour through Poland as an extra value ;D

Thank you for the replies mates.

DaveM: I have read many posts from NikosR. Very helpful info.

zuzka600f: Unfortunately it is a bit more complicated than that. Not that easy to buy vehicles online here in Greece. Will take time to pass customs.

Zipdot: Yes mate Neuromancer is one of my favorite novels (I have a signed Gibson copy I found in England). Way ahead of its time. Read it more than 5 times. As for the 05 model, I really want the new bodywork and the new ECU (and of course the Black one). So i just have to wait. Have an appointment with the dealer tomorrow to see what we will do.

Ride safely folks.
