It has been said before, I'll repeat it here. For all those who have problems working the seat screws: Use a ball headed allen tool. Makes your life much easier. And don't overtighten.

The ball head allen certainly helps with the alignment, but don't forget to ensure that the clips are snug and centered.

The royal pain in the arse of removing the seat was a contributing factor to my getting a gas-ring tankbag from SW-Motech...

Um, you might want to not do that. I did the same thing and the fairing around the seat is cracking. It looks like there are a couple of points that the seat rests on that is kind of surrounded on the outside by the fairing. Since my seat wasn't really secured down it would slide forward slightly and put pressure on the fairing. I now have a crack about 1.5" long. I'm tempted to try and claim it under warranty but somehow I doubt they'd go for it.

I know this may be beating a dead horse, but I have a question and suggestion.

#1 - Suggestion - When removing or replacing the rear bolts for the seat, cut the tube of a Bic pen (the kind where if you remove the top and bottom you have a hollow tube) and slide that over the shaft of the allen wrench. This way, you don't pinch the seat covering and possibly tear it. I got this from a mechanic who works on these quite a bit.

#2 - Question - I have heard that the side bolts on the seats of a 2006-2007 Sprint were for a rear cowling. Does anybody know where I can get one since Triumph decided (apparently) not to produce them? I never use the rear seat and never plan to.

Thanks!
Andrew

Hint when removing seat

I've just removed & replaced my seat fitting a tail-pack, its certainly patience trying -getting the two screws to re-start in the captive nuts is fun! (not!)
If you've got the Triumph/Datatool alarm system fitted remember there's a micro-switch under the seat so have your keys handy or the neighbours won't be too pleased!

Today was my first time fiddling with the rear seat.........I noticed after a hundred or so miles of riding that one of the bolts was not secured.....coming from an aviation back round....it bothered the heck out of me......I finally got both secured after some trying......One of the clips needed an "adjustment"......my question is this......has anyone tried tapping these two rear holes?? Every other screw hole seems to be tapped. Why not these????
