Hi all. I just became aware of a new problem. The last few times I went to start my '03 Sprint 955 the battery was totally dead (new battery). After charging for the day all is well and I can ride all I want until I have to shut her down for the night then the same thing. I will be disconnecting the battery for now but does anyone have any ideas as to a quick check to see what is shorting out. - Jim
Thanks for the response Patrick. My bike is having no problem charging its that somewhere there is an open circuit that is draining the battery overnigh - as if there was a small light on somewhere. Before I start probing every wire with my multimeter I am hoping that someone has run into this and maybe has some ideas as to where to start. - Jim
For a starting point. With the key off, put the multimeter in series with the battery positive lead. I would then pull the fuses one at a time and note any change in current flow.
Thanks Bruce. I was kinda thinking that the easiest place to start was with the fuses. I am also starting to suspect that it could have something to do with my on-going fuel level sensor problem. My fuel gauge intermittently goes to zero prompting an engine light that lasts for several start/off cycles and also propts the fuel low light. I have purchased the whole unit but have been putting of the install till winter as I don't have a torque wrench that I trust for those low torque requirements for screws tapped into the non-metal tank. PS. Does anyone know if there is a fuse that is responsible for the fuel level sender unit? - Jim
