I need to replace the transciever that came with my scorpio alarm. In order to set it to my alarm I need to remove the seat. (Dealer put the alarm in). I hear this is a nightmare process so any advice on seat removal would be appreciated.

While I am at it, I might just replace the seat. Which seat works well with the 06 sprint. I have the two pannier system and want to continue its use.

Ricky, the best advice I can give you regarding the removal of the seat is to forget all what you have read about it being a nightmare. It's a two minute job best tackled with a ball end type allen key.

Removing the seat is a walk in the park. Putting it back is like getting stuck in gridlock traffic. Replacement is best done with non-ball enders and by not pushing the screw down into the threads, otherwise you may bend the clipnut.
I've opted for the Triumph gel seat from 06, but the 07 options may be better.

I'm happy with the 06 Gel seat.

Getting the seat back on isn't so bad, as long as you angle the screws at 20 or 30 degrees towards the front of the bike.

I found that if you take the retaining clips off and compress them a little then slide them back into position, they tend to stay in place better and line up with less difficulty. And the advice to use minimal pressure while re-bolting will help a lot too. It sucked the first time I did it but once I figured out its little idiosyncrasies it wasn't quite as bad.

As for the seat, I've been eye-balling the Corbin gunfighter. Most people have said it's a fine seat but the customer service is awful. Waiting to see if Sargent will make a seat for the newer models. They will also do custom but very $$$! Great customer service though; I've heard.

Are you absolutely sure that is where he put the scorpio? I'm not familiar with alarms because nobody steals Triumphs, but I have to wonder where he found the room under the seat. Maybe it is such a compact unit that there is room under there. But I would check with them before removing the seat.
If you do have to remove it, everything everybody said is correct. :-D

removing the seat is easy:

1. use proper allen wrench to remove bolts holding seat down.

2. Remove said seat.

3. Replace said bolts where you originally found them....preferably with the same allen wrench used in the first place.

4. Replace seat.

Done! Next time, skip steps, 1 &3.

What i found to be helpfull was to get a screwdriver and lift the edge of the seat vynil forwards this gives you more room to insert the Allen bolt :-D
