I just ran into interesting situation. I bought used 05 ST from a triumph dealer about a month ago. The bike was dropped on a sales floor by a clumsy salesman and the condition of the sale was that they replace the left side fairing and alternator cover free of charge. Finally yesterday, I got the bike back to the dealer for this work, along with the drag link recall and heat kit install.

When I got the bike back, I noticed that instead of 05 fairing, they installed 07 fairing that has different shape window. I called them and after they did some part numbers checking they said that if they go to order 05 part from Triumph it gets superseded by 07 part number and they can not order 05 fairing.

Now they say that in order to match the left side they have to order the right side 07 fairing but there is a question, who pays for it. The parts department will talk to salesman who sold the bike to me tomorrow, but it looks like they might tell me that they only agreed to replace the left side and replacing the right side will have to come out of my pocket. I argued that they committed to repair the damage that was there and whatever it takes to do it is their responsibility.

I will keep you posted on the outcome... :???:

I read something on T595 about the mounting points changing.

I would check to make sure the '07 piece mounts at all attach points. The '07 oil cooler was cut down to half the height of the 05/06 part. I believe this was done to increase airflow around the headers, decreasing exit temperature for rider comfort.
The fairing side panels mount tho the lower oil cooler mounting bracket which should be in a different (higher) location.

To check this, remove the lower triangular black plastic piece below your radiator. There will be one 5mm hex bolt each side at the top of this piece. Remove the bolts and lift the trim panel out.

Behind the trim panel you should see 1ea 5mm hex bolt fixing each side panel to the oil cooler bracket.
If you see the mounting tab for the new panel floating unused above the oil cooler bracket, instruct your next of kin to contact the dealer in event of your demise.

On the other hand...
If you find that both panel types use the same attach points, let me know so I don't steer anyone else wrong.

You could email Great Bay Triumph or another large dealer with a web presence to see if the older panel is really unavailable or if your dealer just doesn't want to be stuck with the wrong part they ordered.

I just checked and both panels - 07 and 05 have same mounting points, including the lower corners of the oil cooler.

Thanks for the warning.

What interesting, in my research I went to the official Triumph site and opened a 360 degree view of the new Sprint. its shown with old style fairings. I found some mag pics though that show the rectangular opening vs older triangular one. :???: :???:

talked to the dealer - they are picking up the cost of replacing the second fairing!

I have to add that so far Team MCC in Villa Park, IL has left nothing but good impression!
