Hi stu,
As for the years 02 onwards had the motor with more ponies and slightly quieter. You can tell by the colour of the crankcase. Black = 02 ->
Ergonomically I find them pretty good for up to an hour and a half, then I need a break. FWIW I am 48yo 6'2" 87kg. Average shape, average fitness.
I do two up all the time with my wife FWIW 46yo 5'1" 48kg. She is pretty fit and prefers to take a break then as well. Her knees get a bit cramped after that.
I did ab crunches prior to buying the RS to be able to hold myself up and not put the weight on my wrists all of the time.
They are a great sports oriented bike that is excellent for two up twisties and running around.
I am not sure that I would want to do a 10 hour tour in a day. My body wouldn't take it well
You can always get a better seat (Corbin or Gel) but my ar5e is not the problem, it is mainly between the shoulder blades for me.
You can always get risers or ST bars as some do.
Overall the RS is undoubtedly the best bike that I have ever owned.
Fast 220kph+, predictable in the bumpy corners, reliable, easy to work on, great rock solid handling, economical to boot.
Maybe an ST is more what your after ?? No disrespect, but I am not sure that my body wouldn't thank me at 70 on the RS.
 and they look fab as well. I obviously cannot comment on the $. and yellow is the fastest colour BTW
