I just bought an '01 Sprint ST. It fits me pretty well, but I'd like to sit a little more upright.

I'm short (5'7"/170 cm) with short arms. There's a pair of bar risers already on the bike.

Anybody else my size out there, who likes a more upright posture, that has adjusted their bike to get it just right?

Thanks!

Am I really the only short guy who likes to sit up?

medic09, Sprints aren't really designed for upright riding even for taller folks. I'm in the middle at '5"10 and I don't sit fully upright. Your feet are always going to be slightly behind your hips. The risers are just supposed to give you a little more relaxed but still forward position. I don't know if there are any taller risers out there or if they might compromise your ability to control the bike but you might try the old google or go to the gears and gadgets forum and ask there too.

I would have suggested the Tiger for a more upright position but at '5"7 it would simply be way too tall a bike for you.

Hmmmm? Wish I had more to offer.

Well, now that I've struggled back up on a high enough stool to reach the keyboard...

That was a great comeback, btw.

I knew when I bought the bike that I can't sit really upright on it. Don't want to. What I do want is to be able to stretch up a little more, but then my arms are almost straight on the bars; not as relaxed as I'd like.

Actually, with the risers already on the bars, I don't think they could be raised any more. The GenMar guys told me that one could double the risers, but I don't think there's room to clear the fairing.

I may just have to get back in shape. A little core strengthening might make me more comfortable with the posture I have. The old bones got lazy on my old Honda. 8-)

I'm about your height (171cm) and have the same issue with the RS I bought recently, which has even lower bars. I have a pair of ST bars on the way to me right now. After a few weeks it did get more comfortable as I got in the habit of using my knees to grip the tank, and my abs to keep my weight off my hands. It still isn't comfortable, but it does get a little easier. As your setup is quite a lot taller than mine, and pulled back much further too, I think you'll get used to it soon enough. In the beginning you have to make a conscious effort to unload your wrists but it quickly becomes second nature.

Hmmm, 5'7" is deemed "short" then me a wee small man at only 168cm's and I fit on my 07 ST with complete comfort but I do have 3 parts of my body which are longer than average; my arms and (you know)

Well I'm off to sit under my mushroom with the wee little folk and talk about how we should never have lost that 'dam ring' and dream of what it would be like to be a giant (at 5'7")

Yep, maybe I'm too small to ride my 07, just don't let me know about it as me may get up-set and sell it and I don't what me to know I know about it

Cheers
Poddy

poddy, The idea is that once you get going ... you just don't stop.

That's where you have to put your feet down !!.

There you are: problem sloved.. :-D

You may have to look at inflight transfer of fuel though...

Oh! and welcome Medic09 we take the p1ss out of all people here .. short and tall
