Anyone had this? '00 RS.

I was riding yesterday and the transmission jumped out of gear when I was in 6th. I think I had upshifted a few minutes before and I may not have been as firm on the shift as I should have been.

Odd though.

I was just wondering if this is a pointer to some kind of trouble or if its just "one of those things".

Try adjusting your linkage so the shifter is down more. 1/4 " or so should do it.

That has only happened to me a couple of times when I had done clutchless shifts. More common is the periodic false neutral from 4th to 5th or 5th to 6th.

I'll try the linkage thing. Its probably due to me giving only a short tug on the clutch while shifting. And doing only a quick shift at that. I'll check the position of the shift lever as well and just try to be more careful.

I was mainly worried that if no-one had exerienced this, it might be the start of trouble.

I've had the false neutral between 5th and 6th but it has never fallen out of gear. I suspect you didn't "plant" it into 6th.

Mine also has a false neutral between 5th and 6th, but never has jumped back out of 6th.
