Is the display out (1) or stuck at zero (2)?

If (1) this is a symptom when battery volts are low. Check your battery & your charging system.

If (2) then you have a problem with the wheel speed sender. Have you had front wheel off recently? Usually a symptom of incorrect re-installation & the drive magnet ends up getting broken.
Unfortunately you cannot get just the magnet as a stand-alone piece - have to buy the whole drive.

Many thanks. It's No. 2, and yes front wheel was off for new tire. Mechanic that did it is a good friend and a great guy, but I've long known his attention to detail leaves something to be desired. Will check it out and proceed accordingly.

My speedo was stuck at 0 as well, but mine was a voltage issue. A quick way to check it is to not give the computer time to get through its diagnostic before starting the bike. Turn the key on and immediately hit the starter. It will 'trick' the bike in to thinking there's enough juice to run the speedo.

It's easy experiment, so give it a try before taking the wheel off or anything crazy like that....
