My 07 manual instructs to adjust the free play at the throttle bodies. That means a lot of "taking apart".

What about the little adjuster on the cable near the throttle grip. Why not use that?

Trying to learn the mechanics of this thing,

Thanks,

MD

Another owner's manual oversight. As you guessed, you can adjust the throttle cable at the grip end adjuster.

1. Set the opening cable so that it has an equal amount of adjustment in both directions.
2. Then adjust it to give 2-3mm of play at the twist grip.
3. With the throttle fully closed, check that the closing cable has 2-3mm freeplay. Adjust as necessary.
4. Make sure you have retightened the locknuts.

The 2-3mm freeplay is the factory recommended setting.

As an add on to what OND said. Make sure you check with the engine running in neutral the steering lock to lock to make sure there isn't any binding or engine revving before you ride. Just a little precaution.

Thanks for the replies !

I figured that was too odd to be true...

Maybe they should have a sticky that contained all the oversights and mistakes in the owners manual.
