How can a bike made in the rainiest country in the world require plastic bags to be put over these switches while washing. :???:

I just got an 07 and came across this while reading the owners manual. Never ran into this on any of my many previous bikes.

What gives?

G'day.

I ALWAYS put plastic shopping bags over both handlebar controls ad even one over the exhaust. In nearly 5 years I have never had any problems with any of the switches and still have the original cables, and all still work like new

Just seemed like real cheap insurance to me..

The bike gets a wash, maybe once a month, often less frequent than that..

You mean you guys have a enough water to wash bikes????

Serious water retrictions in this part of the world.

I have ridden in the rain plenty of times and neveer had an issue.

I think Harry is right on the money. It's a good practise anyway.

cheers,
DaveM

Thanks mate,
I actually save the shower water, we put the bucket in while we wait for it to get hot.

Then I keep the garage shut and give her a sponge bath with the shammy.

Best to get rid of the bugs before they turn to superglue. :-D

thanks gsbeamer.

I bet she enjoys that!

Actually that's the way I wash my bikes anyway - bucket and sponge / microfibre cloth then dry with a shammy. Less mess, just as quick and with no chance of powerblasting water into areas that shouldn't have water...
