I can't seem to find where this part goes? It looks like a control cable guide. I have a guide on either side of the radiator, but can't find this one in the parts fische or the shop manual. It has the same "u" bend on one end that goes under a bolt head that the other guides have.

Nothing worse than finishing that rebuild and having that extra spring, washer or screw that just doesn't seem to have a home!

It's the radiator hose support and standoff. Front left side of the motor.


look in the upper left of the picture, see the metal ring? that's the puppy it attaches to that bolt just to the right.

OR

it's the guide for the fuel tank vent and overflow hoses.

look on the lower left of the pic right under the oil window. Larger pic HERE

they are basically the same part, but one has a larger diameter ring
