I thought I should make some notes on my experience in purchasing a leftover '06.

I ordered the leftover '06 on May 11, 2007. Silver is the only color left.

Bike arrived June 1st. My dealer is located 200 miles away.

I ordered the bike with '07 windscreen and bars. He had the screen and bars already installed for me.

When I picked up the bike, the dealer let me know there was a problem with the left hand mirror. The stalk is sprung..will order a new one under warranty for me, and mail to me for my install.

The heated grips are on back order. The color inserts for the panniers were in, but the panniers and mounting stuff are on back order. He will ship me the heated grips and panniers, said I can install them myself.

It's been two weeks, still no panniers and heated grips.

I really don't mind installing them myself. It would save a 400 mile round trip.

I changed the oil (Triumph Mobil One) and filter myself at 500 miles. Very easy! Use 3 of the 4 liters from the oil jug. I love having a dip stick. Don't care for the oil view windows as they fog up after a while.

Absolutely zero, no, na da, issues with this bike. What a fantastic motor. Can you say motorcycle with a capitol M!

Low beam headlights are wonderful! High beam is just so-so.

I need to add a rear wheel hugger as I ride in all weather and a front fender extender. I also want guards for the rad and oil cooler and a deluxe frame slider. I'm sure I will also add an HID for the high beam, AND A REAL HORN! Can any of you guys give me help with where to find these?

The center stand rattles, and moves side to side a little. Is a bushing missing?

The rear shock damping adjusting screw is not to be found. Where is it??!!

I just completed 100K miles on BMWs. At this point, I would say the Triumph is just as good. I give it a ten! The quality is unbelievable. How can they build this good a bike for half the cost of a Beemer??!!

Overall, I'm beggin' to shout....Good job Triumph! :chug:

WardenRoss- Hi beams on the Sprint are one of my pet peaves. HID will make a huge difference. PM me if you would like the details.

You can get Stebel air horns from www.twistedthrottle.com

I've never had a problem with my center stand.

No matter what the manual says the adjustment for the shock is on the left.

WardenRoss,
congratulations on your nice Sprint.

I love my 2004 model also.

It never makes sense to me how BMW prices are so outrageous.

I don't like beemers and never have but the prices! sheesh!

Glad you like the Sprint, a nice allrounder with a stonking motor!

The manual is wrong, look for the rear damping screw on the left not the right (been there done that). Amazing thing the Sprint and the Speed Triple have a different shock, and different drag/droplink assembly and BOTH have this wrong in the manual... Go figure.

Good luck, and rack up some ks' (miles to you), you won't regret it :-D

Glad to hear another good Trumpy story - You can always look at the 200 mile dealer trek as a really good excuse to put some miles on her.

BMW has more of a corner on this niche market being more on the touring side than sporty and they have a well established base that for years has allowed them to inflate prices. Now they are getting some serious comp from the likes of the st and if you have noticed they are coming out with a wider product line of full and half faired bikes to try and keep Hinkley at bay. Gooooo Triumph.

If you timed the 200 mile ride to the dealer to correspond with his opening time - and phoned ahead to make the appointment - it might make a good day's ride to show up at opening time, get your accessories installed and bring it on home.

Always looking for an excuse to get some miles...
