Went out to go for a ride yesterday and the battery was dead flat. This is a first on this bike. I'm thinking I must have left the park lights on. I jumped it using my portable battery, and she started right away, however, by the time I got the seat back on, geared up and ready to go, she just died. I repeated the process about 5 times, and finally took the battery off and gave it a trickle charge overnite.
She started right away and didnt stall like before. Has anyone experienced this, or is this something to do with the electrical system, and did it act like this way because the battery was dead flat?
Any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated.
Cheers.
Ride safe.
Rob

If the battery was old(ish) the overnight trickle charge might have "regenerated" the battery a bit.
Eventually he battery will fail...

Just to be sure that your loading circuit is ok, check the battery by holding a voltmeter on the bat poles. Should be about 12V

Start engine, re-measure, should be hovering around 11.5 - 12.5; now rev engine, voltmeter should go up to 13.5 V
If that's the case your charging circuit is fine.

This may be a silly question but did you check to see if there is any water in the battery? I still have the original battery in my RS and every 6 months or so I prise open the caps and give each cell a top-up with distilled water.

Even though they are low man\intenance batteries they still cook off the water.

Yes your bike would act like that if the battery was completely flat. I'd check the electrics to make sure that the problem lies with the battery but likelyhood is it's just time to replace your battery.
