Today was one of those "good day/bad day" sorta days....a buddy and I got an early start on the day. I was changing my front tire and he was making me some custom risers for the RS. First time doing it, but the front comes off relatively easy and we pop on the new Corsa III using his No-Mar changer. Throw the tire back on and realize we didn't balance it...doh! It comes off again.

After lunch, he starts working on his front tire and I tackle the rear brakes (shop guy said they fail inspection even though there was plenty of wear). And it takes him less him to get his new Corsa III back on then it does for me to get my new pads in.

Here's where it gets interesting. My Sprint is an '02 (Acidic Yellow....the fast one) DSSA. I checked the part number on the EBC's for the rear from the Sprint Wiki and I saw the 214's listed. At this new shop near my place, they look it up in their parts book for a 2002 Sprint but RS isn't listed, so they get me the 214's (I didn't confirm or deny....since I don't know for sure either way).

Well you guessed it....my RS's pads are the 215's. One of pads between the two sets is backwards....grrrrrr! Only took 30min to figure out.

The pads were only $30, but it will be interesting to see how the shop reacts.

On the bright side, my risers are almost done. He just needs to bore out a part that fits over the forks.

When my dealer ordered my last set of rear pads they were the mirror image of what I needed also.
I showed him my worn pads and the new ones. He took them back since they were brand new, just not in the package.

EBC WRONG part # on my ticket from the bike shop-1722-0024. I'm assuming this is a parts unlimited #.

SBS brake pads made for PU correct part #-1721-0336.
The SBS # is 638SI (replaces FA165-R). These pads are sintered, made for ATVs, and make a little bit of noise on my RS.

SSSA owners should ignore my info, this fits the DSSA RS.

If you'll notice the next time you see one, the DSSA swing arm has the caliper on the right side of center and the SSSA has the caliper on the left side of the center line. This makes the pads identical except that one is 'Left handed' and one is 'Right handed'. The Daytona with a DSSA also uses the 'Reversed' 215 pads.

The shop shouldn't really have a problem with this since the 214's are used much more than the 215 part number. If it were the other way around I could see them whinning a bit, but now days it seems everyone tries to get a 'Fee' for any inconvenience to them.

Finally someone who realizes that the '02 Yellow is the true fastest color! Not that banana yellow everyone else has either!

PS. Have you considered just mounting a set of Sprint bars on you're RS. They are a more relaxed riding position than the RS has and much more attractive than a set of risers IMHO. I've just never liked stuff that is obviously an 'after thought' type of modification, but that's just me.

I've known for ages that yellow is indisputably the fastest colour known to mere mortals :-D

FWIW I like the riding position at 6'1". No risers for this bunny thank you.

I've never had a problem with the stock setup as well and I'm only 5' 10". I have Sprint bars mounted right now because I got a set at a give away price so I had to mount them. I like them fine, but I didn't mind the stock RS riding position and I think I'm going back to the stock setup with the bike. I will keep the Sprint bars in case I take a long trip especially if riding two-up.
