Anyone have to replace it yet? I was going to proactively change mine when I did the 18K service, but the dealer tells me the filter and fuel pump are all one part. You can't replace one without replacing the other, for the tune of $300 USD.

Is this true? If so, I think I'll wait a bit longer...

Don't know about the price, but the filter is incorporated in the pump assy along with the pressure regulator. Maybe someone has figured out a cheaper work-around they can share with us.

I just picked up a used fuel pump/filter assembly off eBay from a parted out 1050 ST with 1000 miles on it. I think a work around would be fairly simple. The pump and regulator snap out of the plastic frame. With some fuel line, hose clamps and an after market fuel filter an equivalent system could be made. I’ll put up some pics of the parts to night and give a quick description of how I think it could all be cobbled together. But I’ll be leaving the details to someone else since I now have a practically brand new filter and pump to replace mine with.

Thanks, the pics would be helpful.

If you haven't already installed your new pump, could you look it over and see if there are any part numbers off the pump, filter and regulator?

It is really difficult tracking down the component numbers for these items since they cross so many different manufacturers that it is almost like incest. A Denso can be a Bosch under license and marketed by AC.

I find it hard to believe that Triumph had a special pump-filter-regulator designed for their bikes. I keep believing that it has to be available from a source other than Triumph.

Fuel Filter

Yes it's as bad as it seems, here in Aus the list price is $800. Someone told me a lot of bikes (inc the FJR1300) are using this type of combined filter/pump on the fuel delivery system. The service notes say it's part of the 30,000km service (or there abouts) so I think there will be a lot of 1050's sold just shy of that mileage Either that or hope someone comes up with an alternative. I guess it makes sense to replace the pump and filter as one item on a FI bike, an expensive 'consumable' though!

It sounds to be a stupid design. It should have a replacement fuel filter for say $20.00 or so...not be incorporated into the pump, to me thats just idiotic. Reminds me of the days of Lucas electrics in english cars. I thought we were past this type of lunicy?
