I did a little searching at CA DMV and found this:
CA DMV Motorcycle Registration Procedure
"The procedure for registering a motorcycle with the California Department of Motor Vehicles is basically the same as that for registering a car. You'll need the title or other proof of ownership signed over to you. You'll also need to get your motorcycle insured. Unlike cars, however, motorcycles do not require an emissions check."
I'm washing my 06 with the fairing stripped and I can't find any emission-related sticker anywhere on it.
Can't you register it, then go to inspection, and receive an emmision sticker after they sniff your exhaust?
Good Luck!

I just went through this today. Though CA dosn't require emmisions checks on bikes...If a bike is from out of state they have to have the sticker saying that all is well from the factory, in order to log it into the CA DMV system. (it makes NO sence...but its DMV ...so there ya go)
Now...if the bike has over 7900 miles on it most DMV inspectors just check "yes" and let you pass. I know this because after the one I was having inspect my bike checked "no emissions sticker" due to not finding it, the second inspector Went with me to look for it and when we could NOT find is she told me and the regestration gal:
"Just let it pass...We always do that if its over 7900mi. If it gets kicked back we will send you a note and you can locate it and bring the bike back, but even the auditor will just let it pass so you should be good". She double checked it with her supervisor and she agreed. (Sure glad I was nice and all smiles with all of them

The grumpy guy with the unregistered Harley at the next counter got the BOOT for the same thing!)
So they gave me my paperwork, liscense plate and I am on the road. BUT...if I do have to take it back in...WHERE is it located on a 2001 Sprint ST? Maybe under the farings somewhere?
Thanks
