Well I had another great ride on my 2002 Sprint ST yesterday, even though it was cloudy and cool. There was a number of times I found myself smiling with the handling, braking and power characteristics of my bike. As I was thinking, "This couldn't get any better!!, then I remembered the new 2005 Sprint ST with more displacement, more power, etc....

What's the verdict out there? Is this site going to become abandoned because everyone is going to go buy a new one?

Ride safe and have fun. (while the weather holds out)

Kirk

I will probably buy a nice used one just since there is likely going to be a bunch available at great prices with the incredible '05 coming out.

I'll still be here Kirk. I think I'll be paying off the '03 and keeping her awhile as I really love this bike. Hopefully can make some long term mileage updates as a few folks here have. Who's got the ST with over 100K on it again?

Notice you have a 2002 600 Bandit - I just sold mine earlier this year, as it seemed useless once I bought the Sprint!!! It was a good bike, I just didn't ride it anymore for some reason.....

There's a chance I may also be posting in the Speed Triple forum in the future however.....

On the other hand, perhaps the 1999-2004 ST will become a hot item in high demand when everyone sees the 2005 model. When I look at the 2005 model, it just seems it could have Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki or Kawasaki on it instead of Triumph, and nobody would ever know the difference. In case you can't tell, I'm really disappointed with the looks of it.

Ok, so it's probably faster than the current model. Who cares? My 2001 is plenty fast for me. Why would I want to ride an ugly bike just because it might be 1/4 second faster in the quarter mile?

Hey PTG,
I concur wholeheartedly. I figure to put a couple of more years on my 00 ST and then see what's available. I'm sure by that time, the "all new" ST will have some tweaks, and used ones with low miles will be on the market for big discounts. It will be a great bike for non-ST owners, but just not enough physical improvements to throw a bunch of money at modest performance changes.

The more miles I put on my bike, the more I love it. About to take off on a 10 day 4000 mile trip at the end of the month, and I can't wait to hit the open road and let that triple wail!!

I just had a great weekend on my St. I left out at 0530 Sat. morning, met a friend on his busa for breakfast. Then went and rode the Cherohola Skyway and the dragon for the day. I keep up just fine with the busa but he can't keep up with me in the twisties. Ended up putting in a 618 mile day on the stock seat. Not sore at all. What a fantastic bike. Just gotta love it.

I think I'll keep mine for awhile. New Z6's and dual brake lines in the front and it just keeps getting stronger.

Hi Kirk,
I'm not going anywhere! I love my 03 ST and I just can't see anything out htere that would be able to replace it. There is not enough of a mechanical upgrade to the 05 to me put my Blue Angel on the block. I am looking at the dual fornt lines, and that's about it.

Hi Dolson how many miles you got on those Z6's? How do you like them? What the strong points and weak points about them?

Hey Don and Preach -
Going to be ordering the Brembo Gp radial cylinder next month. Erik at Triumphnet.com installed a year or so ago, and gave rave reviews. Seems like a great upgrade for only $250. I'll let you guys know my thoughts after the install.

Kirk - If you have read enough of this forum, you'll notice that we may disagree on various issues, but we all love our ST's. The new 2005 will be great for those who have never had an ST, and we surely will welcome the newbies, but I think it will take alot of miles before we start abandoning the 99-04 ST's in droves. Stick around and keep on posting. Its a great group of guys on this site.
