You've always been able to use a single sided swingarm stand on the Speed Triple no reason why you can't use it on the Sprint.

So why is it taking so long for there to be any type of test reports, developemtn rides or general info on this bike? Are they scared of all the bad press the BMW K1200S has received?

I am looking forward to switching my Honda ST for a new Triumph ST, though I would prefer a new CBR1200XX with hard bags.

I don't think that Triumph is stalling because they are scared of a bad review. The 05 ST/S3 productions run just began on Nov. 25th, if you go by the On Yer Triumph web site. I also heard from friends that spoke to Triumph reps at the Dallas show that the ST at the show is just a prototype. MCN is rumored to have a test "soon"

As for my opinion of the new ST......I put my deposit down last month and can't wait!

I have owned a '97 Trophy 1200, a'96 Daytona 1200 and a '96 Tiger which I traded for a '01 ST with 1600 miles on the speedo. Have had it a month and a half, made a trip to the hills of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas 1300 miles over a 3 day trip. By far the best bike I have owned so far, way too much fun. I plan to buy the new style in two years, which should be long enough for extra goodies to be available ( ABS, etc. )

For those of you who enjoy drooling as much as I do, I've been keeping a gallery of all the 05 sprint pics on my website. If you're interested in checking it out, feel free to do so at:

My Sprint Album

Additionally, if you know of pics I don't have up, please feel free to email them to me, and I'll get'em added.

Thanks and enjoy!

Yes the new Sprint is very nice, well mostly. I don't like the analogue speedo, I think it is a step backwards. Anyway I think it's an Aprilia Tuono next, might not be what you wanted to hear but tough!

I spend most of my time in the Speed Triple Forum, but I wanted to see what you guys were saying about the new Sprint ST. I hope that the test ride I'm waiting on at my dealership answers many of the issues you have brought up.

I was considering a Rocket III strongly until I saw the '05 Sprint ST on the cover of Torque. My '01 Speed Triple is a great bike for the twisties and for short rides with my wife, but I am looking for a bike that I can load up with a few days worth of clothes and take off for a mountain hide away with my wife on the back and still enjoy the twisty roads on the way there.

The Rocket II would surely eat up the highways and be a great cruiser, but I think the Sprint ST more suits my riding style. I like a bike that has my weight leaning forward a little. I feel that I have much better control over the bike in the corners in that position rather than the more laid back attitude of the Rocket III. I test rode a Rocket III and really liked it, but then I saw the New Sprint ST and have decided to wait and see how it performs.

As for the styling, I think it looks great. Granted, not the flowing body lines of the previous generations, but I really like the underseat exhaust. Also the ABS and GPS systems sound like really nice additions for those of us who plan to travel long distances in unfamiliar territory. The lack of an ABS system had me looking at BMW for this type of bike. I am definitely partial to the triple over the BMW motor and this may keep me in the Triumph line-up for my next bike.

The ride and in-person appearance will make the final decision for me. Can't wait 'til it arrives at the dealership!
