Hello all,

I'd like to change the oil in my 06 sprint this weekend, and would like to use a K&N oil filter. However, most of the bike shops out here are not very knowledgeable when it comes to Triumph's (even the nearest Triumph dealer).

Anybody know the part or model number of the K&N filter?

What filters (& part numbers) have you used & liked?

Thanks!
~Randy

WOW! Thanks!

I really need to take some time and learn how to use the "wiki"

One question though; "DO NOT USE ENERGY CONSERVING OR SUPERSYN OIL." I was thinking of using "Redline" oil, but dont know if its a "supersyn"... I'm pretty sure it isnt an energy conserving type since its a racing oil. Anyone know?

Thanks again!

That K&N part # is not correct; at least, not for the 05+ 1050 sprints. Correct part is KN-204 for the oil filter.

Holy *****! Looking at

http://www.knfilters.com/search/appl...px?Prod=KN-204

looks like you're right. Someone needs to update that wiki cause I almost put in an order for a large number of those other filters.

They changed the part number but it is the same filter. The old filters fit just fine. I have the NAPA Gold version that we looked up for the 2004 on the book and it works fine.

Done a lot of research on this subject myself and without going into specifics here this is my combination which I reckon is the best and also saves you a lot of money as well over the 'Triumph' badged versions:

Shell Rotella T fully synthetic 5W-40 - Walmart $16 for 4 Litres (in blue container) which is as good if not better than the recommended 'Triumph' Mobil 1 Racing 4T 15W-50 which costs in the region of $40 for 4 Litres

Purolator Pure-One - 14610 (3.25" Long) - Amazon aprox $8.50 for TWO...
One of the top rated filters - an alternative would be the Bosch 3323 (3.25" Long) or the Mobile M1-110 (3.25" Long), these are the top contenders for filters. The Pure-One just happens to be the cheapest of these... compared to aprox $14 for the Triumph filter (which is probably a rebadged Mobile M1). I go for the longer filter as this gives you more filter area...

my 2 cents

btw nice list stinger

I use the Ryco z445.It comes off and on with a normal car oil filter and is about $12 cheaper than a Triumph one.I also use Shell SVX oil and after 3000 km it is still golden syrupy.
