Ok first off no pics yet!

I had the trident pipes installed today along with the off road tune. This pipe is loud!! It sounds like a "wail" as the rpm's rise. Throttle reponse is much better, as where you always seem to get the bike struggling as it hits 6-9k it now rev's free right through to redline...it just seems much "freer" now. As far as fitting these pipes....it is a very very tight fit where the plate frame is located...my dealer used a strap with a device to pull the pipes up closer to the top of the body to thread the bolts on the side where the plate bracket and bracket for the bags get screwed into the frame. The pipes are well made and do look much like the MV Agusta tail section of an f4 1000. As far as weight I didn't messure the weight on a scale but im surprised that the weight savings is what is it is...as I didn't feel that it was all that much lighter. On a low note for me...When I got to my dealer and they placed the bike up on the lift...I noticed a shinney metallic piece stuck in my rear tire..yup a nail!! So they unfortunatly didn't have a bridgestone replacement in stock...but had the ability go to the dealer down the road and pick up a Michelin Pilot tire (same tires on the speed triple I noticed) My dealer ended up puting the Michelin Pilot for the front as well as he didn't like to mix and match tire brands and compounds...did I get screwed? Was this tire the way to go for this bike? Or should I have waited for a bridgestone? Anyway it was a long day for me to say the least...(6 hours round trip for the work and time on the road to get there) and a tougher day on my wallet...$400.00 for 2 tires . Total bill for exhaust, tune installed and 2 tires mounted and balanced...drum roll: $745.00! Yikes!

ricster-I don't believe you got screwed. $745.00 for the Trident exhaust including installation? That seems a bargin. $400.00 for the tires seems high. I work at a cylcle shop and we are very aggressive in pricing tires and mounting. As an example we charge 40 a set for tires that are purchased ffrom us. Pilot Powers would be about $330.00 a set. Are they Pilot Powers or Pilot Roads?

Either way, in my opinion the Michelins are vastly superior to the Bridgestones. I switched over to Pilot Powers after the Bridgestones were worn down on the back and I love the Pilot Powers.

Anyway congrats on the pipes-I hope to get a set.

Ricter-

Congrats!!!!!!! Thanks for the update. You did manage to get it done on Thursday. Cant wait for mine. Told you that you would be happy. No worries.

Tires? Man that sucks. Last year two days before I was heading to Laguna Seca Picked up a nail in my NEW Avon.
Lucky the it was still under manufacture warranty and got a free one. I did manage to hold up my departure time by five hours. Oh well.

My two cents on tires........Any thing is better that the factory Bridgestone. I could not believe how much more I could throw the ST around after I switched.
It must be like having a new bike. Right on man.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear they arrived on time and are on the bike! What a PITA about the tyre though - still could be worse - last month I got 2 flats on my car at the same time and had to wait a week for the right tyres to be imported from Germany and then got the bill $800!!

Congrats Ricster.

Haven't noticed any of that struggle with my TOR and TOR tune. In fact I get a rush when the bike passes 7500 up to the redline. Never ridden my bike with the stock pipe and tune though.

Quite a few sets of tyres ago I was trying the Qualifier out when it first came into Australia.

I put a 2" gash from a tree branch in the rear on the first ride of only 200kms of mountains and had to replace it!

Bummer rictser but glad you got youreslf a nice noisy exhaust................join the club! :-D

Congrats on the new setup rickster! ST's definitely benefit from having an off road can and tune installed! It really opens them up.

It does suck about the tires but you'll be much happier with the Michelins on the bike. I've been running them for years. Superior to the stock Bridgestones in every way. It sounds as though you were overcharged though.

Keep the shiny side up!

Ouch!! Is that $345.00 labor charges to put a can on and change the tune?

Yikes that was a nasty surprise with the tire!

NotSoFast has a point $400 is a lot of $ for those tires fitted - I had a set of Pilot Powers installed on my sv650s last year and it cost me something in the region of $330 like NotSoFast quoted... (BTW which cycle shop do you work at NotSoFast...?)
and as 86gn pointed out that seems a lot for installation and tune upload... but I guess it's done now and you have a nice looking noisy exhaust - enjoy!

I took her out for a 100 mile blast and she runs great...except for the unusually hot underside around the tank area where I lean into....I thought these pipes would cure the heat issue, it has not :???: Any ideas guys?
