For the last year I have been running on Pirelli Diablo Corsa's which are what I used to race on when I was racing an R6 a number of years ago. Great tyres.
Last weekend I needed to replace the rear and I opted for a Pilot Road as I wanted longer life and mostly use the bike for commuting to and from work. The pilot road tyre is 3 days old with about 50km on it.
Close to a set of lights 500m from my house I down shifted in readiness to turn right, I down shifted again anticipating the launch out of the corner. That was when I got a compression lock up. I have had compression lock ups in the past and never has it been a problem, especially with the Diablo anyway the rear started squirming all over the place and before I knew it I had been unceremoniously dumped in the middle of the intersection on the exhaust side of the bike.
With a much bruised ego and swore wrists and butt and a bunch of scraped and banged up fairing panels I was loathing the call to the insurance company.
I made the call and they tell me I have am imposed excess of $750 on the policy rather than the standard $400. I had fallen off in 2005 after hitting an oil patch in a corner, however my insurance policy specifically states there is no imposed excess. I checked my policy for 2007 and imposed excess $0 I checked my 2006 policy and imposed excess $0.
Surely the policy invoice I have received from the insurance company amounts to a legal document between me and them with the conditions outlined on the invoice?
Yesterday I was cursing myself for the expected $400, today I am even more unhappy.
I just needed to share this with people who will understand my disappointment in myself and the insurance company.
It looks like I have a confontation on my hands.
PS. The RS rocks, definately the best bike I have owned and ever ridden.
