FYI - this seems a popular topic at the moment so I thought I'd throw this comparison together which isn't exhaustive ('cuse the pun! )...

I've included aprox price to your door for those in the USA but this could change depending on the pound / dollar exchange rate and also if customs decided to hold your package and then charge you import duties...

This is only a comparison between looks and cost - for power and other issues you'll have to check out their websites.

IXIL - the new boy on the block: Aprox $765

IXIL

Trident - Tried and tested by many: Aprox $905

Trident

Yeah I can't imagine where Ixil got the idea for that look from!!

There are a couple of major differences though - they have used black painted alloy rather than carbon so they don't keep the under seat area cool like ours and perhaps even more importantly, they haven't actually made any yet - just the prototype in the picture...

Ours come in at $30 more by the way but are carbon not alloy!

IMO IXIL look like prototypes. Wolf is clearly more fully researched and developed product and worth the $10 more per pipe.. Assuming similar performance. I think Wolf is the standard against which all others will be judged.

BTW As soon as I unload a couple of Norton Electra baskets there will be a Wolf on my bike.

Having had a manufacturing company once I had a customer who said I love your product but I don't want the first one. I want the hundreth one. He correctly assumed all the bugs will be worked out by then. Wolf has been out for some time and I've seen no complaints about fit or finish. A happy customer tells no one a pis-ed customer tells everyone.

Competition is good and welcome. B-School tells you the first out gets to charge a premium and when others jump in the first can lower costs due to volume. So if you all rush out and get Wolf pipes the cost will come down by the time I'm ready :-D :-D

Speaking of comparisons...

Peter,

Any luck with the dyno slips? You know, inquiring minds want to know and all that sort of stuff!

Cheers,
Mark

Just an observation, as I already made my decision and went with the Trident, the bolts on the plate mount are expose on the Ixil photo but without modification, those bolts reside under the tail fairing. So, they must have manufactured a drop bracket or the photos does not have the tail fairing properly attached? :???:

I agree the Trident exhaust is a finished product and the IXIL looks like a prototype. If that is what the finished IXIL product is going to look like then the extra doe for the Trident is money well spent! Not that my oppinion is biased....... I just ordered the Trident in Carbon last Friday

Peter,
Can't wait to get that exhaust!! Ditto on TripleTime's request for dyno slips :-D

Thanks,
Jim

Well, there's only so many way to make a three-pipe outlet look. Not really fair to accuse them of copying is it? After all, MV had that look long before you did.
Just food for thought.

I posted this comparison just for peoples information - I don't work for either company so unlike Wolf,I have no biased opinion on either (sorry Wolf but you can't be considered an objective observer here although your opinions are more than welcome... ).

I agree with most of the posts about the Ixil pipes - they look like prototypes although judging on their website it does look like they can be ordered - unless someone knows for sure that they are not available yet. As for my opinion I do prefer the look of the Tridents - they are neater and of course there is the difference in the materials used.

I also think jthursby is right on the money - there isn't a lot you can do with the design to make it look different, I don't think they 'copied' Tridents look... :hammer:

I'm not about to run out and buy either right now but I will be keeping a sharp eye out on both makes and hoping that more competition with other designs come along! Maybe by the time I can afford them there will be some competition from US manufacturers and/or the prices and exchange rates have come down somewhat...
