Hi all, thanks for your patience with my noob questions.

Several folks here have recommended a SW Motech toprack for use with the Givi case, but I'm confused about what to get with the Givi case itself - what's a "monolock"? As far as I can tell, it's something that locks the case to the bike itself?

Also, question #2 - my bike came with a key lock that matches my bike's master key, the dealer said it was if I ever get a topcase.. Can I use this key lock on a Givi case, or is it only for use with a triumph case?

Thanks in advance for helping, I'd hate to order stuff from twistedthrottle and either get the wrong thing or not get everything I need at once.

CASES & BOXES

The GIVI top cases and panniers are the result of more than 20 years’ experience of careful attention to detail and caring for the needs of motorcyclists.

The case opening/detaching system is operated with one hand only and the MONOKEY® and MONOLOCK® fitting systems guarantee ease of use together with a high reliability and durability that always characterise all GIVI products.

MONOKEY® and MONOLOCK® cases boast a patented locking system that enables the opening/detaching of the case and its attaching/releasing from the plate with a single key.

MONOKEY® cases have a bigger capacity than MONOLOCK® cases and are for use on motorcycles.

MONOLOCK® cases have a smaller capacity and are usually used on scooters and maxiscooters.

------------

I just got an e52 Case. with an SW motech rack and love it. I had been wondering what the difference between the V46 Givi Case and the E52 Case was. The V46 case will fit 2 medium full face helmets, while the 52 liter case can fir 2 XL helmets.

-----------
The extra lockset will only work with a triumph case, not the Givi.

What is the difference between the SW Motech mount and the Givi FZ726 or whatever it is?

The SW Motech brackets are far superior to anything currently available.

The tubular steel type arrangements have never been good IMHO. They eventually break and are usually rusting from the inside out by the time you get them.

The Motech system also has the advantage of being able to take pretty much every major brand of hard luggage available. The main brackets stay on your bike and you get the relevent adaptor plate to mount your desired boxes.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the info Beach. I'm thinking I'd go with the SW bracket. If I get the SW topcase mount, does that allow for Givi sidecases in the future? I know I'd need some other sort of side mounting stuff, but I want to make sure that is all doable.

For now I'd just keep the Triumph sidebags. They don't seem to hold all that much, but with a big E52 on the back, I think I can make do
