Thinking of puting the Gen mar risers on my 02 ST.Has anyone had any troubles like cables, hoses being to short.Do you get any extra buffeting around the helmet with the standard screen and of course the big one do they make the bike more comfortable around town?

I`ve got them on my RS, my bars are still lower than your st but I`m happy, I don`t think you`ll have any issues with lines or cables,if i remember correctly,gen-mar has instructions on line and lets you know if you have to replace anything before you buy.
my 2 cents

I've had them fitted to an 01 ST. No problems with brake hoses, just fitted up OK. For long trips I found that it is better without them. Fitted it tends to rotate your upper body back a bit but this puts weight onto the point of your backside a bit, hence for longer trips your bum gets more tender. Also my back seems to prefer the lean forward position a bit better than sit up, again for longer trips. Fine for normal speed travelling and shorter trips. Also probably preferable for easier machine control when riding two up. Easy to put on and take off hence I think they are worth it. I don't think it makes much difference to the wind buffeting. So far I havent fitted them to my 06 Sprint.
Cheers, Simo

I added them to my "06 roughly six months ago and simply love them. I didn't need longer cables but, did reroute my brake cable for a little breathing room when turning to a lock. I have noticed no downside on long trips but I guess this is all up to each individual. :-D

amanger,

This is a personal thing. Some people prefer them some don't. They should make the bike a bit more comfortable in stop-and-go slow riding conditions though.

I just wish a sport-touring bike like the Sprint had adjustable clip-ons. Up and backward for town riding, low and forward for sportier or high speed riding.

So far, I have opted not to install risers on my Sprints but I have lately developed a shoulder / upper back problem and I'm seriously thinking of trying the risers on my 06 Sprint.

Amanager,
I fitted Genmars to my 05 Sprint and they are great. Before I added them I had trouble with my neck, back and wrists, but after fitting them I have no trouble at all. I took my clutch cable into Cableguy and had it lengthened by 32mm because on full left lock it felt a little tight. Hope this helps, also in my album there are some photo,s of them.

I put 'em on my '02 two weeks after I bought the bike. It's a quick and easy installation. I don't ride around town, but on last weekend's 300 miles ride "to charge the battery" (grin!) I was perfectly comfortable. I'm 6'3" (so didn't need risers for the reach), and don't have any problem with buffeting (there's actually less than on my Road King which has that big-azz windshield).

Some like 'em, some don't, I suppose.

I put 'em on my '01 and am glad I did. Less neck tilt/cramping on the long trips. Since all of us are different sizes this becomes a very personal choice. At 5'8" I have a lot more lean to get to the bars than otheres... No mods at all on installation..everything just fit fine and really simple to install.

Charlie...
