Hi, new to this site and relatively new to Triumphs so please bare with me,have read some very interesting comments and helpfull tips/ideas/fixes for an array fixes/ problems/improvements from some very knowledgeable and experienced triumph owners.

Haved searched this site to no avail so hoping someone can advise, wish to inspect/clean the air filter on my '06 Sprint however unsure how to raise fuel tank,I'm thinking it can't be raised to allow access ( Ducati,Cagiva style, quick, simple ) as the rear bolt which seems to allow a pivot point has to be removed and said tank slid back to allow front to disengage and therefore allow removal/access.

Also read/heard somewhere process can be somewhat tricky due to o-rings in fuel lines/fittings,like certain things first attempts can result in complete stuff ups, subsequent attempts a total breeze,I wish to avoid stage one therefore would appreciate advice/experience and thanks to all participants in this great forum.

Regards,Les

Welcome aboard Lambo.
Sorry I am not the technical man here but there are quite a few who will come to your assistance.

Thanks Nikos but I'm not allowed to send a private e-mail address until I've made ten posts to this forum or something.

Thanks for your welcome Dave, only my Dobermanns could do more damage to a rear tyre than you !!

Don't worry Dave, once they see you have blue Sprint,as mine, you'll have instant immunity, just don't leave anything leather laying around,if you could have seen what those cheeky boys did to my''ex''$900.00 spyke jacket it would have brought tears to your eyes,it did to mine, for about three days.

If someone hasn't already given you the info, or rode over to help:

1. Remove seat.
2.Disconnect batt neg lead. (to avoid unexpected bright flashes and zapping sound effects)
3. Remove side fairings.
4. Disconnect fuel pump connection. Mark the connection point because the other one is not used. Then gently squeeze sides of the fuel connectors and carefully pull loose. Only the fuel in the hose will drain.
5. Remove the tank to frame rear bolt.
6. Mark the two breather hoses and disconnect. Undo the fuel level sender electrical connection.
7. Move the tank to the rear until the front tab clears the bracket.
8. Remove tank.

Not that hard to do. Just be sure you prepare a spot to place the tank before you take it off. And, of course, avoid doing it with a full tank.

:-D

Thanks for that info oldndumb. I am having to remove my tank in the next week or so to fit a Scottoiler so you detailed instructions will hopefully save my neck.
