Dave,

Just wanted to let you know that I ended up with the Battlax BT-021 tires. Seem pretty decent, and a lot more predictable than the old 020's. But I'm not sure if that's due to the fact that these are actually more round than the more squared off ones that I just dropped off.

What I wanted to pass on is that I picked them up mostly due to the fact that the tire manufacturer had problems with the first lot wearing out crazy fast. So, my understanding is that, a worldwide recall was initiated earlier this year (if you've got some that wore out fast and were less than sticky, you might want to see about getting the free replacement from your tire dealer). The ones that I now have are the second editions, which are supposed to have fixed all of those original issues with the first batch, in regards to the front tire. Hope that this helps...

Improved Battlax?

I stopped in at my local shop to compare new skins and the guys brought up the new Battlax BT 016. I was wondering if anyone has tried these yet. I was leaning toward the Metzler Z6 or M3, but now I'm reconsidering.

They're getting good reviews from other forums, but I was wondering on mileage. I've put a little over 5k miles on the Conti Force this summer and it pretty flat in the middle. I was running about 34-36 psi most of the time.

Anyone have anything good to say about the old (new) Battlax?

The next replacement of tyres will be with a completely different manufacturer as I am unhappy with the way these tyres feel and perform compared to the 020.
I'm not sure if it's always the case but my local mechanic reckons there are often differences in compounds for tyres with the same names but supplied to different parts of the world. It would make sense if you think that our 'high' temperatures are around 25 degrees but parts of the U.S and Oz often have much more extreme air and therefore road temperatures. Personally I can't get on with the 020s as they seem to slip around too easily. Any recommendations from UK riders would be much appreciated.
