Hello everyone,

I just bought a Triumph Tank Bag off ebay, great deal 100$CND including shipping to my door. It does not have mounting instructions or anything at the front end of the bag between the two leather tabs with holes in them. I am just wondering if anyone that has the triumph tank bag bra set that can tell me if there should be Velcro to hold the Velcro piece in place and what connects the two leather tabs with holes in them.

I was thinking of just using a bungee or something like that but just checking what the originals use.

I searched the archives of the site but no one has the process of mounting this bag anywhere that I could find.

Thanks,

Dr. Triumph

if its the full tank bra, the 1 which covers the tank completely
the 2 holes in it, attach to the rear bolt mounts of the tank (remove the seat and you`ll see em) your supposed to remove the seat, seat cowl etc to gain access to the tank bolt, but you should be ok just removing the seat and using a couple of open end spanners.
then the strap at the front fixes around the headstock

Perfect, Thank you very much, that makes sense now, just no instructions to go with it when it came.

Installation will happen as soon as I get my bike back from the recall drag link bolt fix, and master cylinder replacement.

its a high quality system but I find it a little bit of a pain in the ass.

the tank bag itself comes off easy and fast.

its the tank bra that is a pain.
its ugly to look at if the tank bag is off. the zipper flap just lies there.

I like to see that shiny triumph gas tank when I'm headed out for a joy ride on the weekend. so I find its just too much work to take it all off on a regular basis. so now my tank bag is for long trips only (will go on with the sidebags). defeats the purpose.

I have gone back to wearing a backpack for daily commutes.
I haven't really looked into a tail pack. not sure whats out there.

Take a look at the Sport - Engage tank bag from Bags Connection. When used with the SW Motech gas cap mount it is just about perfect. Very easy on/off and nothing comes in contact with the tank so there is no danger of paint damage. You can view the system at twistedthrottle.com

just fix some self adheasive velcro (hook/stick) to the flap and tank bra and leave it in the up position which keeps the family jewels away from laying on it, and its less likely to snag your jacket.
plus side; its well padded and stops you scuffing the tank with your knees causing any fading of the paintwork.
downside; it only comes in black

I would suggest every few weeks unclipping the harness and wiping down the tank and giving the tank a wax & polish as theres a possibility of the padding in the tank bra holding some moisture, but all in all its an excellent piece of kit.

if you`ve got the high capacity tank bag for it (which expands) the zip on the top of the map pocket is designed to allow you to zip in the tank bag from the low cube model on top
I ain`t got a clue how the hell you gonna see over the top of it all as my chin rests on the top of the bag as it is when expanded, but thats what triumph designed it to do.
