I want to replace the stock rear shock on my '02 Sprint ST. I'm not interested in rebuilding the stock shock, so you're wasting your time if you are going to suggest that. I've heard good things about Ohlins shocks and I have been trying to find a Ohlins TR851 shock for months and months to no avail. They quit making them, apparently due to slow sales, and they are rare as hens teeth. Also, I did hear from someone a while back that Ohlins shocks tend to be sprung too softly for a bike with the rear suspension geometry of a Sprint ST. I suppose that could be remedied by going with a firmer spring at additional cost. I've looked at Penske shocks, but I've heard mixed reviews about them and they aren't much cheaper than Ohlins. Recently I was pitched a bunch of info on Hyperpro shocks. I did some checking (hyperprousa.com) and was very impressed with the extensive list of bikes they make shocks for! I mean how many suppliers are going to make a shock for a Norton F1! That fact would indicate to me that they have a company philosophy of supporting motorcyclists of all persuasions, not just the current high volume production bikes with their volume based profit margins. If true, that would be a selling point to me. Have any of you had any experience with Hyperpro shocks? Thanks for your time in responding!

Try Wiblers shock German made, they are built to your specs. I was going to that way but the $$$ got in the way, went the rebuilt route.

There was a good post on this forum about Wiblers, can't find.

If want quality that the way to go.

I had started a thread on the Wilbers shock I had installed. I have no idea how to lind to it & the search function really doesn't work. I posted it on 2-9-07 & it was titled (1050 suspension upgrade."

I haven't had much time to ride it since installation due to all the snow here lately, but it is a huge improvement. If you need more info let me know.

Alan, what series did you have installed. I just received an e-mail back from them and they gave me two quotes;
1) 640 @ 549.00
2) 641 @ 839.00
Which did you go with??
I'm thinking on going with the 640, since I don't track day the bike and blast to triple digits are kept to a minium.
Thanks Dig

I got the 641 & I added the remote preload adjuster since I sometimes take a passenger, I didn't want to have to mess with a spanner wrench. I also got the fork springs since they are very inexpensive. I have only been able to take it out breifly between snow storms for a ride, but the short distance I did ride it, I can tell it is going to be a big improvement. Especially over rough pavement.

My shop only charged me for 2 hours labor to install everything. I'm pretty sure it took them longer.

I guess nobody has any experience with Hyprepro shocks. I know they're made in Italy and Ohlins are made in Sweden. Never heard of Wiblers before, which doesn't mean they aren't good. I'll see what I can find out on the web and try and compare prices etc.
