Funny thing happened on the road to Sprint ST nirvana - waited and waited for the "new" ST only to find out that they put all new clothes on, but forgot about the stuff that really matters to me. Reminds me of The Who "meet the new boss, same as the old boss".

Done enough analyzing of photos and wish list and the new model doesn't add up for my purposes. So, I'm going to keep my customized 2000 ST, and stop commenting on the "new" model.

But low and behold, from the moment I saw the S3, that beast has been commanding my attention. I can't ignore the primal call of the wild any more - on Saturday I'm putting my deposit down for my first naked bike since 1985. Who says you can't go back in time?

Congrats, sounds like a grand idea there chum. While not having seen one in person, the new S3 reminds me greatly of the MV Brutale and I for one find that bike nothing short of orgasmicly beautiful. Oh, and it was even better to ride.

So, keep the rubber on the road and the seat clean there Fastcat.

That new S3 is one bad-ass looking bike. Someone on T595 photo-chopped the rear fender and moved it up, so that it comes out of the seat. It looks MUCH better that way IMO. More finished. No doubt some aftermarket company will come out with a nice undertail for people that don't like the looks of the stock fender.

Based on Eric's (from France) post on T595 about the 2006 lineup (supposedly reliable info from a dealer), I'm going to wait to buy anything new. 2006 rumors include the demise of the 4-cylinder models being replaced by a new Daytona middle-weight triple (750?) and a new big Daytona to replace the 955i. I really, really like the idea of a torquey 750 sportbike in a 600-class chassis. Looks like my RS is safe for the rest of this season and next as well.

Hi 1FC,
I agree that the Triple is a wild looking critter. Despite it's somewhat Buell like back fender this bike is DEFINETELY All Trumpet!
Good luck and congrats. I wish I could afford one, I'd be putting my money down too.

I'm with you guys on this one. But I think I'm going to need to ask for a raise though........or pick some good numbers maybe......

Besides chopping that fender, add some bar end mirrors, remove the passenger foot pegs, put the solo seat on.....

Oh it hurts.....

Hi 1fc,

I love your thinking. I ride an 03 ST and love its versatility, its power, its handling, its feel through the wind and on long trips and its quality. But every once in a while I just want to go out and ride the streets, quickly, and feel the wind. The S3 would fill that need. I may well be joining you with my purchase of next years S3.
