Any body here ever buy a bike that was a demo and kept the bike for many miles? There is a 06 Sprint ST ABS at the local dealer with 1650 miles on it that they are wanting to sell for $10800. Since I doubt the recommended break-in procedure was followed, what the long-term ramifications were to the longevity of the engine.

It should come with the full factory warranty so if you have problems it would be covered.

I think the price is a bit high though.

They said it would come with a full warranty. I am worried for things that might happen at 30 or 40 thousand miles.

When dealers are selling brand new '06 bikes for less than that... no way I would go for that demo. There are NEW '06 ABS bikes out there for about $1K less, their price is at least $2K too high IMO. My NEW non ABS was $9200 OTD last Nov.

Mine was a demo bike with 600 miles on it, Ipaid just under that. I could have spent another 1500 for the 07, but this just seemed like the better deal.

I've yet to have any problems with it. Granted, I've only had it for three months and it has only 3400 miles on it now. :-D In about 6 months I figure it will have more then 20,000.

I paid a little less than that for my '06 w/ ABS last May. You should be able to do better.

I just brought a demo model last week abs and cant be more happy,im not really concerned over the motor as i think that they are a very strong motor as was the 955 donk.As long as you change oil and filters and all the rest of the services i cant see any problems, have a good ride. ( i am ) :-D

G'day..
I would say that there should be no problem with the demo being ridden hard ( how does anyone ride a demo when out of site of the shop :-D ) as long as they changed the oil in hte very early stages, like after first 50 miles, then after anothe5 100 mies or so, then mabe if they are being really careful again before 600 miles.
If they have that documented it should be fine..

If you have some time look at the treads on running in new motors.

I'm in OZ, cant comment on the asking price, but here, we would horse trade that price way down..

Good luck...

I bought a demo with 108 miles on it. The only issue I had was a bad cam cover gasket that was shot from the factory. As far as the price goes your dealer must not be very motivated to sell. I was quoted $10,200 and paid $7,000 after my trade-in for my '06 w/ABS.
