After an accident in January 2006 they did a x-ray on my wrist with no breaks shown, then after 3 months of pain the hospital did another x-ray & found my scaphoid bone was broke.
They first tried a cast for 6 weeks to find it was too late to heal.
So December 06 they operate by taking bone off my hip & putting it in the gap of the broken bone and then a screw too hold it all together, all went well by the way.
So today 12 weeks later my cast has finally come off what a nice feeling.
I have been able to ride the bike in the mean time just had problems with the glove :???: .

How much lighter does that arm feel now? Are you overshooting when you reach for things? :-D

Congrats on mending!

Luckily i had a fibreglass cast so not too heavy.
I can find the indicator switch now, and hopefully my hand will be warmer with a glove on.

Glad to hear the mend is complete - Never been to the UK (Scottland close as I came) but doesn't it get darn cold in the winter? Didn't your hand freeze
Congrats on getting the cast off

Sure you didn't go the Peter Stevens to get your wrist fixed that is the sort of service we have come to expect form PS on our bikes.

Good to hear it is all coming good, guess it is another 8 to 10 weeks of physio to get some strenght back in it, and a lot longer to get the full strength and mobility back.

Riding the bike all that time is some feat, I'm impressed.

That really sucks, but everyone should learn a lesson from this. Any time you seriously sprain your wrist, you must get an MRI to make sure you haven't broken your scaphoid. I crashed a bike about a year ago, and seriously sprained my wrist as a result. I called my brother in law, who is an orthopedist, and he told me that a fractured scaphoid will usually NOT show up on an x-ray, especially one taken right after an accident where they're not looking specifically for it. Breaking your scaphoid can be really bad, because a lot of times you won't notice it's broken until the wrist stops hurting, and by then it is too late for the bone to heal properly. About three to five years down the line, the bone has worn away all of the cartilage protecting it, and arthritis sets in. In a way, you were lucky that it kept hurting and they caught it in time.

So, if you've suffered a serious wrist sprain, insist on an MRI--it's the only way to be sure. Some doctors won't do it, saying it's not necessary, but either insist or find a doctor who will do it. ER doctors will almost never offer it, because they're not usually trained in orthopedics and probably wouldn't know how to read an MRI anyway. It's expensive and a pain to do, but in my mind at least it beats arthritis (especially in the throttle wrist :-D ).

This has been a public service announcement.

Thanks guy's for your support i still have to wait for the other half of the bone to heal properly then physio afterwards.
Yes the service i got from the hospital was *****, i waited 3 hours yesterday for an x-ray?.
It was a bloody women doctor in the ER that messed up, my physio at the rugby club said i should think about suing them lol.
The scaphoid bone is the most common bone to break in a motorcycle accident, so if it happens to you get it checked out.
