I took my first ride of the season this afternoon and had my new toy Garmin GPS. While riding down the highway, my sppedo registered 80 mph while the GPS stated a speed of 75 mph. At lower speeds, it appears to be more accurate. However, once above 60 MPH the drift or error is 3-5 mph on the high side.

I assume that the GPS with a lock of 5 satellites is way more accurate than a Triumph Speedometer. Has anyone else experienced this much error or have you checked??

I haven't checked my ST to the GPS yet. An indicated 75mph on my old S3 was 70mph according to GPS.

Nunzo-Your is speedo is off, the GPS is correct. My Zumo shows 73 at an indicated 80 on my speedo. I always wondered why all those speeders around me weren't getting tickets.

That's about right for the new model ST. You should try an earlier one. Mine is +10% all the way throught the range!

Per law the spedo have to show 3 - 5% more. 250km/h is 232km/h on the GPS for me (only thing I can remember) :-)

Regards/Casper

My 93 ford F150 is less than 1 MPH off from my GPS but my Sprint is 10% across the board.

I haven't ridden a motorcycle yet that speedo wasn't off. When I was at 168 indicated the GPS was reading 155. :-D

I don't have a GPS YET, but using the old "Your speed is" radar box on the side of the road and several passes at different speeds, my '01 is 10% off all the way through the range.
