I'd look for a deal on a clean pre-05. My wife rode on my 05 once and refuses to get back on it but she loves to ride on my 99. She said the seat was an odd shape, she could feel too much heat from the muffler, the grab rail was hot and she fely very exposed by the seat position. She does like the looks of the 05 though.

The high back seat gives your passenger the feeling that she is riding the bike, my girlfriend loves it. She has a great view of everything from up there. For me, it hardly hinders the awesome handling of the bike when she's on.

whether the seat height is an issue will depend on your relative heights.
The bike is good with a pillion - seat is comfortable, the footpegs arent too high, handling is fairly neutral, and it has plenty of boogie from low down.
My only issue has been the pillion seems to slide foward fairly easily but I understand the aftermarket seats have better shape to address this.
To show the seat height - heres a photo of me with a shorter pillion.I am 6' and she about 5'2''. She loved the ride (may have been my scintillating company?) - it was a Christmas charity ride.

Me and Filthyphil do a lot of two up riding, mine is a 2004 ST and his is 2000 ST. We both adjust the rear shocks betweem one up and two up riding to get the best out ofthe bike. Can say our wifes enjoy the ST in every respect, comfort, performance, ride.
Before the ST, I had an Adventurer, this misus reckons the ST is a lot more comfortable.
Can't comment on the post 2005 models but I doubt there would be a lot of difference.

Hmm.
I had a Bonnie and the G.F. loved getting on the back of that, but she is not so keen on the Sprint.I think she is scared of the extra height, performance and overall bulk.
For me the Sprint is a much better pillioning bike though.

My 03 RS is perfect for two up. The ST's are also really good I have been told. Talk to DaveM.
The wife complains after 2 hours in the saddle!! She has no extra padding though!! :-D

And the problem with that is???? There's little more pleasant than a lithe young female pillion hanging on to you from beyond :-D

That's what I like about my seat and sharp brakes. A quick jab and my wife is nice and close :-D

I have a 2004 Sprint with a gel seat.
My wife loves it and rides with me on it everywhere.
We have done a couple of 6 day trips............it's all good.
