just got some OEM panniers with mounting kit off ebay $618 shipped (a little high but first set in my color on ebay in 3 1/2 months that I looked) time vs money you know how that goes
ordered tires $232 shipped
ordered chain $120 shipped
12000 mile maintence $580 including platinum brake pads
I'll be ordering sprockets soon $135 shipped

I paid $3650 for the bike 2000 st with 12000 miles which included triumph off road can and original can, a like new triumph one piece rain suit, gerbing heated gloves with heat troller, a nice aftermarket tank bag, a very used disk lock, and a mid range motorcycle cover
I'd say a consevative value of the extras come to about $350

remember the specially formulated blue frictionless paint adds about 5 horsepower (he he)

now I'm afraid to add it up...

think that comes to $5335 spent including $350 worth of extra stuff that came with bike
what do you think?

keep in mind it is as like new as it can be with only 12000mi on the clock and previous owner was a very timid rider - HUGE chicken strips ect...

Alright guys and gals tell me what i want to hear!

Wanted,

You paid a reasonable price for the bike with gear and bought some stuff that you really wanted. Tires and chain are maintenance (though early for the chain?).

Sounds OK to me. Don't look back on your decisions (after all, there's little value in that). Just look forward to enjoying the bike.

Sounds to me like you got a pretty good deal... however, your statement above is not quite sound logic... I also have HUGE chicken strips, but that doesn't mean I am a timid rider... what it does mean (in my case anyway) is that all the miles on my last set of tires were commuting miles... I would love to get out more on the weekends, but finding the time is always an issue... anyway, I am a fast and aggressive rider, but don't get much opportunity to really lean on the interstate... my previous set of tires had no chicken strips, primarily because I spent the better part of a week riding on and around Deal's Gap... so just be careful about jumping to conclusions based on what you see on one set of tires...

you got a very good price on this bike. with only 12000 miles on the clock, its barely been ridden. I would agree you won't need a chain replacement until around 20000 unless the orig. owner didn't lube it correctly. Get some Honda HPchain lube (in the RED can) and squirt it every gas fillup. Play with your fork and rear shock settings until you get it to the feel you like for the roads you ride and I doubt you will have a 'chicken strip' issue considering where you live!!

What kind of tires did you get? I Know that's a big personnal issue, as we all like 'what we like'. I'm just curious.
If the money you spend on motorcycles bothers you, just don't keep a record. Me on the other hand, I keep every receipt for everything I buy for all my bikes, so that there is no 'guess work' involved in knowing just what I've done. If you do that, don't be timid. "Life is Expensive", live it to the fullest.
You're gonna love your Sprint!!

About the chicken strips, that was just one reason, I met the guy and he knew nothing and I mean NOTHING about motorcycles at all! and he was not faking it!
this was his first bike (hell of a starter bike)
he bought it off a friend who I think was in need of money (least thats what it sounded like to me) he had it for a year and a half and only put 1500 miles on it.
the chain is shot early because he never maintained it at all. The first owner took pretty good care of it from what my dealer told me.
All service done on time ect.
Also original sprockets are not worn at all (I'm going to a 18 tooth on the front and I need a new chain anyway so I just figured might as well go ahead and replace the rear also)
IMHO I dont think someone who pushes a bike hard with a totally slack chain for 1500 miles would still have a good rear sprocket - just my opinion
not sure but I think its the original front tire!!! 12000 miles!!!!!
No it cant be... or can it, you tell me
Seemed like this bike scared the owner I got it from also seemed like his fiancee might have also had something to do with it
Who knows I just had to go with my instincts

LMAO your right there not in these mountians and not the way I'll be riding, especially once I get me and the bike all dialed in together
Wild and Wonderful West By God Virginia (thats West Virginia for all you non hillbilly types)
Yeee Haaawwwww!!!!

I went with the Avon Storms $232 including shipping (cheap!)
But I doubt if my feedback will help anyone - First Triumph, first set of tires, so I wont have anything to compare them to.
